“We could sign it Again” Congratulations Pour In for Anthony Joshua as Shock World Title Fight Offer Drops

After defeating Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua may be just one win away from a long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury. Although, the two-time heavyweight champion has been offered the chance to fight for a world title in his next outing

Anthony Joshua ended 15 months of inactivity when he stopped Paul after six rounds and his plan for 2026 now seems pretty clear. ‘AJ’ is expected to return to action in February, where a victory will supposedly tee up a clash with long-term rival Fury for the second half of the calendar.

As far as Joshua’s opponents go for his February return, Dutch kickboxer and former Fury sparring partner Rico Verhoeven has emerged as a frontrunner, with fight news expected imminently.

However, Queensberry promoter Frank Warren told The Stomping Ground that he would be willing to stage a clash between his newly crowned WBO heavyweight world champion Fabio Wardley and Joshua, to potentially add a world title to the blockbuster dust-up with Fury.

“Fight Fabio Wardley, do it tomorrow, sign it tomorrow. If he says yes, I’ll go round to his house right now. Christmas Day I’ll go round there, and we will get the deal done. Why wouldn’t you do it?

You said you want to fight for a world title, fight Fabio Wardley. In the meantime, if you’re not [wanting to fight for a world title] and you want to wait for Tyson, then wait for Tyson.

Deontay Wilder

All of these people keep saying he needs to do these things to get back [and fight] for a world title, he’s no spring chicken, he’s been around and he’s a two-time world champion. If he wants to jump back in, then there you go, Fabio Wardley – another guy who has had no amateur experience.

Let me tell you what it is, what he doesn’t need to do, AJ, is fight anybody who can punch, because then there won’t be a fight with Tyson.”

Eddie Hearn has previously admitted that a world title fight is Joshua’s preferred option, rather than a Fury fight, but money talks and his lucrative meeting with Fury is surely too big to put at any kind of risk by facing a tough February opponent.

“Not Beatable”- Eddie Hearn Names the Heavyweight Joshua Can’t Overcome

With Anthony Joshua threatening a meaningful resurgence in 2026, Eddie Hearn has named one man who could prove a step too far

The 36-year-old defeated internet star Jake Paul by sixth round stoppage on Friday, ending a near 15-month layoff at the Kaseya Center, Miami

After that victory, ‘AJ’ is now reported to face a credible opponent on a Riyadh Season show in early 2026, before targeting a more lucrative clash with Tyson Fury next summer.

But while Fury, who must first come out of retirement, seems like the preferred option, Joshua could alternatively look to become a three-time world champion next year.

A clash with former stablemate and newly-crowned WBO champion Fabio Wardley, for instance, could make a great deal of sense, especially when considering the terrific punching power that is typically generated by both men.

Oleksandr Usyk, meanwhile, represents a far greater puzzle to solve, just as Joshua discovered following two points defeats to the Ukrainian in 2021 and 2022.

Not only that, but with ‘AJ’ having now aligned himself to Team Usyk, it would appear that a trilogy encounter with the bona fide heavyweight king remains far from realistic.

But even so, the Brit’s promoter, Hearn, has admitted in an interview with Froch On Fighting that his client would likely lose to crafty southpaw once again.

“Could ‘AJ’ become the world heavyweight champion? In my opinion, he beats Fabio Wardley. So yes.

“Can he beat Oleksandr Usyk? No, at the moment. I don’t think he does.”

“I Was Pushed to the Edge” — Anthony Joshua breaks silence on year away from boxing ahead of Jake Paul fight as Fury showdown explodes

Anthony Joshua explains why he decided to take 12 months away from boxing following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024; Joshua returned to the ring on Friday with a knockout win over Jake Paul in Miami, before calling out Tyson Fury once again

The two-time heavyweight world champion marked his return to the ring with a sixth-round knockout victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami on Friday night.

Joshua immediately followed up the win by reiterating his desire to fight Tyson Fury in a long-awaited all-British showdown.

“I had a tough defeat in 2024 and I just want to pick up and move forward again,” said Joshua. “So yeah, I’m glad that I got back in the ring and I figured out that this is where I want to be.

“It was a real test for me to figure out if I still want to continue or not, and this was a good eye-opener that this is where I want to be, that I want to get back in the ring and go again.”

Joshua’s return was unorthodox, a bout between him and Paul emerging as one of the most controversial in the era of crossover clashes.

Nonetheless, Paul barely laid a glove on the former Olympic champion before suffering a double jaw-break from Joshua’s devastating finish.

“I needed to do better. I needed to do better,” said Joshua after the fight. “Yeah, it’s a win, but it’s not a success. I think my coach expects more from me, and I expect more from myself.

“But what can we do? We can’t reverse the clocks. I have to move forward. I have to put that in the past now.

“After today, you may see a bit of social media trying to lap up all of the algorithm attention, but for me, it’s in the past. I can’t live off of that win. I’ve got a lot of improvement I need to do. So, yeah, I’m not happy.”

Anthony Joshua Delivers Ruthless Reply to Proposal from Unbeaten 41-Year-Old Boxing Icon for Return Bout

Anthony Joshua channeled his inner Canelo Alvarez when responding to Andre Ward’s offer for a potential fight.

Joshua is gearing up for his return to the ring, having been inactive since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September last year.

While he is believed to be making a return in late 2025, or at the beginning of 2026, Joshua’s opponent is yet to be officially announced.

One man that is vying for the spot in the opposite corner is, former professional boxer, Andre Ward.

Ward was a hugely respected pound-for-pound fighter in his heyday, although he has been retired since 2017.

The American left the ring with an unbeaten professional record of 32-0, but is now suggesting he’d make a return if Joshua accepts his offer to fight.

Ward took to Instagram when he suggested in a video: “There’s one name that I brought up before that when you say that name I can see myself fighting him. Present day. Today.

“If the business was right and everything was right on that front, me and Anthony Joshua.

“That’s a fight that I would take at Wembley Stadium. It’s a dangerous fight for my legacy, it’s a dangerous fight across the board. But that’s a fight that would get me in the gym and get me in the mindset that I need to be in to go to war.

Joshua quickly hit back suggesting that this is purely a financial move from Ward.

He savagely said: “Pay Day Pay Day [Canelo voice].”

Which then sparked a back-and-forth between the pair in the comment section of Ward’s post.

To which Joshua replied: “Don’t come asking for multi millions to fight me. Put your pride before your ego and let’s rumble.”

That was where their public interactions came to a close, although Joshua continued to respond to fans remarks in the same comment section.

Who will Anthony Joshua be fighting next?

Ward seemed serious in getting a chance to fight Joshua, but as it stands the Briton is heavily linked to a fight with another American instead.

Paul recently met with Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh to discuss the terms.

Anthony Joshua

Having already verbally agreed to fight it seems to be a matter of when, not if, we see them share the ring.

Joshua’s long-term promoter and Matchroom Boxing chairman, Eddie Hearn, issued Paul a warning should their bout go ahead.

It seemed to be a humorous idea at one stage, but now as the conversations are progressing we may seriously see a match up between Joshua and the Youtuber-turned-boxer after all.

Prominent Boxing Commentators Erupt in Outrage Over Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul Showdown

Prominent boxing broadcasters from Britain are aghast at news that Anthony Joshua, one of the best heavyweights that the country has produced, could be lining himself up to fight a former star on The Disney Channel, Jake Paul, in a real boxing bout.

Though Joshua has bulldozed his way through a number of elite opponents, like Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, he has suffered a massive setback in the last 12 months as he got clobbered and flattened by Daniel Dubois. In the time since, Paul has beaten a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, and 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr — both of whom are former champions in their respective divisions.

Even with Joshua’s noticeable decline, and Paul’s apparent improvements, there is still a significant talent gap that exists between them that makes any fight “very dangerous,” according to Adam Catterall and Gareth A. Davis on talkSPORT.

Anthony joshua

Here’s a brief transcript from a conversation Davis and Catterall had regarding the crossover fight.

Gareth A. Davies: “Jake Paul is an area-level fighter. A British area-level fighter. And Anthony Joshua is still a killer, and a live heavyweight.”

GAD: “Even Eddie Hearn is saying he doesn’t like the look of it, but you see the glimpses of dollar signs [in his eyes].”

Adam: “There is no price.”

GAD: “There shouldn’t be.”

Adam: “There’s absolutely no price on the planet to make that fight, because it’s dangerous. You can’t forget money, because it’s still a business at the end of the day, but think about the talent of these two people. You have an Olympic gold medalist … a two-time unified, heavyweight champion of the world, with the most amount of title contests in this era.

Gervonta davis

“And he’s taking on a lad, who,10 years ago was presenting TV shows on The Disney Channel.”

“But he’s an area-level novice. When he fought someone with a boxing pulse, Tommy Fury, he got beat!”

It’s no foregone conclusion that Joshua fights Paul next because the British slugger has also been linked with a fellow Olympic gold medalist, Tony Yoka. It’s a fight that French media already say is 90% likely to happen, with one media outlet reporting that Joshua even said he’s expecting to box Yoka.

Eddie Hearn Unleashes And Drops Bombshell Update on Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul — With A Savage, Curious Jab at U.S. Star

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has aimed a dig at Jake Paul amid rumours the pair could be fighting in the near future.

Joshua, 35, has been out of action since he was beaten by Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September.

Since that defeat, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist has undergone elbow surgery and is targeting a return to the ring in 2025.

Meanwhile, YouTuber turned boxer Paul has beaten the likes of Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at heavyweight and cruiserweight, respectively.

Recently, it has been tipped that Joshua and Paul could take on each other in the ring.

According to a report by Sky Sports, promoter Hearn has stated that Paul is the ‘frontrunner’ to face Joshua.

The report read: “Jake Paul is absolutely the “front-runner” to fight Anthony Joshua next, says promoter Eddie Hearn.”

Hearn also stated that it is ‘bizarre’ that Paul thinks he could get the better of the former heavyweight world champion.

Gervonta davis

He said: “I think Jake Paul is absolutely the frontrunner to fight Anthony Joshua next. I’m here in New York for meetings about the fight, there’s an open dialouge between myself and MVP.

“I don’t know what to tell you other than it’s mental. I can’t sit here and tell you that this is a 50/50 match. The whole thing is bizarre, I think it’s extremely dangerous for Jake Paul.

“The general feedback is that the boxing world is say ‘Please AJ, go in there and evaporate this young man from the boxing world so we can all get on as normal’.”

Hearn added: “You then got Jake Paul fans thinking bizarrely they could beat Anthony Joshua and the most bizarre thing is that Jake Paul genuinely believes he will beat Anthony Joshua.

“I think it’s the only reason we’re gonna see this fight, because Jake Paul, and his merry men, are telling him that AJ, his punch resistance is gone and this is a great time to fight him.

Eddie Earn

“I’m telling you, be careful what you wish for! Because this is the most dangerous thing. This is going into the ring with one of the fiercest punchers of this generation. By the way, if you’re going in there thinking you’re gonna win, that’s even more dangerous.

Anthony Joshua’s Promoter Reveals Why a Jake Paul Showdown Could Surpass a Tyson Fury Fight in Scale

Joshua is currently in talks for a staggering boxing clash with YouTuber-turned-fighter Paul. There is a gulf in class between the pair with the Briton a two-time former heavyweight world champion, while Paul has had just 13 professional fights against largely limited opposition.

Several options lay on the table for Joshua’s comeback fight, and he has also been heavily linked with a two-fight blockbuster deal with bitter rival Tyson Fury.

And despite the boxing purist wanting to see AJ finally settle his feud with the ‘Gypsy King’, Smith believes the commercial value lies in a duel with Paul.

“2026 is going to be a huge year for Anthony Joshua,” Smith said on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee & Jacobs.

“It is a random fight with Jake Paul, but it is the biggest fight out there at the moment.

“Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul on the global scale is bigger than Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. That is the world we live in right now.

Joshua Could Be on the Verge of a Monumental 2026 With a Thrilling Jake Paul and Tyson Fury Double-Header in the Works.

AJ has been out of the ring since last September when he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley.

Elbow surgery in May has delayed his return – allowing for shock talks with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Fury retired in January but announced in July that he will come back to fight next year – with the hopes of a fight with Joshua.

Frank Smith, CEO of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, talked up a mega 2026 for AJ with bouts against Paul AND Fury possible.

Smith said on talkSPORT: “2026 is going to be a huge year for Anthony Joshua.

“It is a random fight with Jake Paul, but it is the biggest fight out there at the moment.

“Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul on the global scale is bigger than Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. That is the world we live in right now.

“AJ has done everything in the sport, he still has a lot more to offer but in this business people get written off.

“I think you will see him in a great year next year in the biggest events possible.

“From a commercial perspective he’s in the driving seat, AJ delivers the biggest numbers.”

Fury, 36, retired after consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, last year but told fans at a BoxPark event in July that he will return in 2026.

Paul is 12-1 in his career with his lone loss coming against Fury’s brother Tommy in 2023.

Paul won on points over eight shorter two-minute rounds and returned to cruiserweight in June to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

And he beat the former middleweight world champion over ten rounds – placing him 14th in the WBA’s rankings.

Paul, 28, first called out Joshua, 35, on his podcast earlier in the year sparking a behind-the-scenes back and forth between the two.

And Smith added:  “I think you have to respect what Jake Paul has done.

“He’s not at the level of Anthony Joshua, and he keeps calling people and one day these fights will happen.

Eddie Hearn Issues Stark Warning to Jake Paul, “I Hope Joshua Destroys Him With a Vicious Beating”

The British promoter warns of possible “brutal punishment” if the fight between the influencer and the former world heavyweight champion goes ahead

Rumors of a possible showdown between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua have begun to gain momentum in recent days, as the idea of seeing the influencer-turned-boxer take on the former unified heavyweight champion has generated mixed opinions in the boxing world. One of the most critical voices has been that of Eddie Hearn, who is Joshua’s promoter.

Hearn not only questioned the viability of the fight, but was clear in his statements about what he believes would happen if Jake Paul dares to step into the ring with Joshua:

I hope AJ goes in there and destroys him. This would be a brutal beatdown, an easy night at the office

This fight seemed unlikely until a few years ago, however, rumors of a possible clash between the two have increased, to the point that today it seems imminent.

Although the difference in experience and class between the two boxers is noticeable, representatives from both sides have admitted that talks are underway

In fact, Eddie Hearn revealed that he had a recent conversation with Nakisa Bidarian, a close associate of Jake Paul and co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, assuring that “this is very real” and that the chances of the fight happening are “50/50”.

Bidarian not only confirmed the interest, but also described the possible fight as an event of “biblical” proportions, even pointing to a possible date in 2026.

Criticism of Jake Paul continues

However, not everyone is convinced that this clash should take place, as journalist Gareth A. Davies described Jake Paul as “a regional level boxer” and was concerned about the physical risk of facing a heavyweight like Joshua:

However, the chairman of Riyadh SeasonTurki Alalshikh, also spoke about the possible fight, and although initially sceptical, Alalshikh now sees the duel as a possible solution to the “Jake Paul problem”

If Joshua destroys him, the headache is over. If Jake Paul wins, we will know that he deserves to be in boxing

There are still many things up in the air about this hypothetical fight, but what is a fact is that, if it materializes, it would be a fight with a large audience.

British Boxing Star Anthony Joshua Plotting Shocking Switch to Premier League Power Play”

British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua is teaming up with long-time promoter Eddie Hearn to launch a football agency, his latest step into the world of sports business.

The development was confirmed by Hearn in a recent interview with IFL TV, where he revealed that they are exploring opportunities in football representation alongside Matchroom Boxing CEO, Frank Smith.

“Collectively, we could form a very powerful football agency,” Hearn said.

Though still in its early stages, the agency has reportedly begun attracting attention from Premier League players and other professionals across top leagues.

The idea of venturing into football agency was first hinted at in 2020 during an interview with GQ, where Joshua and Hearn discussed plans beyond boxing. The conversation resurfaced recently after Joshua posted on Instagram, urging Hearn to “talk more” about the possible collaboration.

Joshua already made his first move into football in 2024, when he signed England international Chloe Kelly to his 258 MGT agency, making her the first professional footballer to join the roster.

While Eddie Hearn’s family has a football background, his father, Barry Hearn, was the owner of Leyton Orient for nearly 20 years, this would be the first official football agency venture for both Hearn and Joshua.

The agency project follows Joshua’s growing interest in football, though no official confirmation has been made about ownership or investment in any football club.

Joshua’s 258 MGT currently manages several athletes across boxing and other sports, and the potential expansion into football signals a broader business vision from the former two-time heavyweight world champion.
