I Don’t Doubt “He’ll Win” Manny Pacquiao Makes His Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Prediction: “He’ll Win”

Terence Crawford: Manny Pacquiao has weighed in on the upcoming ‘super-fight’ between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

After weeks of speculation it was finally confirmed earlier this month that the pound-for-pound stars will do battle on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo is set to make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship against ‘Bud’ in what is his second reign as champion after he defeated IBF champion William Scull in Riyadh on May 3.

Eight-division world champion Pacquiao has spoken out and shared his thoughts on the upcoming showdown between Canelo and Crawford, which has been regarded by many as being the ‘biggest fight in boxing’.

Whilst speaking to ESNEWS, Pacquiao didn’t hesitate to give his backing to Mexican icon Canelo, who has been a dominant force at super-middleweight since he made the jump up from 160lbs seven years ago.

Since making his debut at 168lbs against Rocky Fielding in 2018, Canelo has gone on to defeat the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia amongst others.

He made a brief move up to light-heavyweight to dethrone WBO champion Sergey Kovalev in 2019, but fell short in his second outing at 175lbs against former undisputed champion Dmitry Bivol three years later.

As for Crawford, the 37-year-old from Omaha is bidding to become the first three-weight undisputed champion of all time, having already achieved this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight.

The highly anticipated clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is now just months away.

It was announced earlier in the month that the modern greats will do battle on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Terence Crawford is set to make the jump up to super-middleweight for the first time in his career as he bids to dethrone the Mexican superstar of his undisputed championship at 168lbs.

The 37-year-old from Omaha has spent his recent years campaigning at welterweight, where he won the undisputed championship and became the first fighter to accomplish this feat within the ‘four belt era’ when he defeated Errol Spence Jr in July 2023.

Canelo wrote his name into boxing history once again on May 2 when he defeated former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh, becoming the first two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion.

In an interview with Seconds Out, retired Puerto Rican great and former opponent of Canelo, Miguel Cotto, shared his thoughts on his former rivals upcoming battle with Crawford.

“The set of skills that Crawford has can cause a lot of trouble for Canelo.”

Canelo outpointed Cotto in November of 2015 to capture the vacant WBC world middleweight title, although the Puerto Rican icon had entered the final years of his outstanding professional career.

The Mexican had previously lost to Floyd Mayweather and has been bested by Dmitry Bivol since, marking his only two losses in an incredible 67 fights. He has never been beaten in the super-middleweight class, but Crawford is adamant that will change this year.

I would pick Terence Crawford to beat a Canelo Alvarez even at 168, everybody can call me crazy and whatever you wanna say, I get it, y’all didn’t believe me when I told you about [Errol] Spence but trust me, Crawford will figure out a way.

“I know a secret y’all don’t know and I ain’t gonna tell you why I would pick Terence Crawford but it’s part of the secret is the reason why I’m picking him to win the fight.”

Victory for Crawford would see the unbeaten American write his name into boxing history once again, as he will become the first fighter in the history of male boxing to win an undisputed championship in three divisions.

The pair will have to wait until September 13 to exchange physical blows, although Canelo did shove Crawford after ‘Bud’ marched across the stage towards him in New York.

Both fighters have been successful across four weight divisions, in their respective careers thus far.

While Canelo’s professional record sits at 63-2-2, with 39 KOs, the four-weight world champion Crawford has promised to hand his hugely popular opponent a devastating defeat.

Crawford has a spotless undefeated record of 41 victories with 31 by way of knockout.

The American in his most recent encounter struggled to victory over Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to clinch a world title at super-welterweight, his fourth division.

The four-weight division titleholder is making the jump up two divisions, in order to make this bout happen.

Canelo may have also conquered four weight classes, but recently went the distance in an uneventful 12 round bout.
