$100M: Crawford Rejects $100 Million Comeback Offer, ‘Bud’ Fires Back With a Chilling “Soul-Stealing” Reply

Former undisputed boxing champion and pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford abruptly retired in December 2025 at 38 years old, walking away after the biggest win — and biggest payday — of his career by schooling Canelo Alvarez to capture the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles (watch highlights).

And while boxing retirements are often temporary, Crawford insists his is final.

In a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, former NFL player Channing Crowder asked Crawford point-blank if there was a number — $80 million, $100 million — that could bring him back for one more fight.

“Nah, because now you’re selling your soul,” Crawford replied.

When Crowder joked that he’d take $100 million “and sell his soul,” Crawford fired back.

“That’s you. Now we know your character,” Crawford said. “Sometimes you look at people and be like, ‘Dang, man, you ain’t got no dignity, no morals.’ Come on, man. Like, what are you gonna stand for if everything is about money?”

Crawford explained that while boxing obviously paid the bills, money was never the driving force behind his career.

“I never was in a sport because of money, you know? Well, of course, I was in a sport to make money, but I wanted to be a world champion,” Crawford said. “I wanted to do something that I set my sights out to do as a little boy, and money wasn’t the motivation. Being a world champion was the motivation. Me accomplishing all the things that I’ve accomplished along the way on my journey…Then I became a world champion, and it was just like, man, all this other stuff is a cherry on the top. I did what I set my sights out to do.”

Health also played a major role in his decision. Crawford has long said he wanted to retire on his own terms.

“I wanted to retire after defeating Spence. I always told myself, I want to retire from boxing, I don’t want boxing to retire me,” Crawford said. “So just going through all the aches and pains and the things that it’s not talked about, and it was just like, how many more of these do you want to go through?”

“A lot of people ask me, and they say, ‘Why are you retiring?’ You’ve got a lot more fighting.’” Crawford added. “Why would I give it all to you, though? Why not take some more with me and use it for something else. You know, why not put all that energy into my kids or into something outside of boxing? I want to have a life outside of boxing. I don’t want to be like those fighters who stayed in too long, and they can’t enjoy the fruits of their labor. They can’t enjoy playing with their family. They can’t enjoy being able to have a decent conversation. That played a part too.”

“I’ve been doing this sport since I was seven years old,” Crawford told Ring Magazine in another interview. “I retired at 38. Ask yourself: if you’ve been taking your body through hell for 30 years, would you retire? That’s why I retired. There is nothing else left for me to accomplish in the sport of boxing. I gave my all to boxing, but I’m not going to give my health to boxing.”

Crawford retired with a perfect 42-0 record, 31 knockouts, and one of the most complete resumes in boxing history — with nothing left to prove and no interest in cashing in one last time.

Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford Sends Clear Message on Wife Rumors Before Canelo Fight

Terence Crawford had been in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Alindra Person, but some had speculated that she was the boxer’s wife. Months before the star’s marquee fight against Canelo Alvarez, Crawford took to Instagram in an attempt to set the record straight.

“I hate that now days you have to put s— on social media,” Crawford noted in a June 2025, post to his Instagram Story. “Look I am single so please stop saying I’m married because I (have) never been married or (ask) where my wife at.”

Not only is Crawford not married, but the boxer’s latest comments indicate the star is no longer in a relationship with his long-time girlfriend.

Here’s what you need to know about Crawford, his dating life and kids.

Crawford still remains involved in his children’s lives. Person and Crawford are the proud parents of six children.

During a recent interview on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Crawford also revealed that he has a seventh child with another woman. When Crawford is not in the ring, the boxing star enjoys the normal duties of being a father.

“Be they self,” Crawford said of his advice to his kids during a May 30, interview with “All the Smoke Fight.” “That’s all my kids. Be a leader, not a follower. You know, I think that’s the best advice that I can give my kids because in today’s society, everybody is copying everybody.

“Everybody want(s) to be, you know, these social media kids and they gravitate to their friends and want to do the things that their friends do. And I just want my kids to be like I was when I was young.”

Relationships aside, Crawford has remained focused on the massive fight against Alvarez. With the main event being available for free to Netflix subscribers, Crawford believes the visibility will not only help the two boxers but enhance the popularity of the sport as well.

The majority of marquee fights in recent years have been on pay-per-view which can limit the potential viewers.

“It’s (Netflix) very important because if you look at boxing back in the day, boxing was like the No. 1 sport in the U.S. before (the) NBA and NFL took over,” Crawford remarked during a September 10, press conference.

“But the reason why it was because it was on regular TV and more people can take notice of it. You know, when you was looking at all the mega fights back in the days, like Sugar Ray Leonard and now, they was fighting on regular TV,” Crawford added.

Terence Crawford Declares Bold Ambition, “I’m Ready to Become Boxing’s Next Global Superstar”

Undefeated WBO jr welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (28-0, 20 KOs), of Omaha, Nebraska, will have his toughest test when he takes on undefeated WBC champion “The Ice Man” Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KOs) of Kiev, Ukraine, in a unification bout on July 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

“It’s going to be big. I’m going in there and putting on a spectacular show and showing everybody that I belong here,” Crawford told Fightnews.com®. “I have to make a statement on July 23rd.”

Crawford will be training for the fight in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska under the watchful eye of his longtime trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre.

Coming off a devastating knockout over Hank Lundy this past February in New York City, Crawford was impressive in defending his WBO title for the second time. Last year saw Crawford score knockouts against Thomas Dulorme in April, as he won the vacant WBO super lightweight title. and in October when he stopped Dierry Jean in his first title defense.

Since coming to the United States Postol has been 4-0 with 3 KOs. He won the WBC world title with an impressive tenth round knockout over the tough Lucas Matthysse last October. “I feel Matthysse gave up because he was frustrated. It wasn’t because he hurt him with a punch, it was because Matthysse was tired. Postol was holding, elbowing, his jab was irritating him every time Matthysse would get in. There was more frustration than hurt,” Crawford said.Anthony joshua

“Postol’s style is more European,” he continued. “Straight right, jab, clinch, hold, elbows here and there, but there is nothing he’ll be able to do come fight night to keep me from taking that belt. I’ve seen a lot in my time of boxing on this level. I feel I will do real well!”

A win over Postol would open a new chapter in Terance Crawford’s career. “This is just the beginning. It’s my first pay-per-view and I want to put on a great performance. I want to be the next superstar,” Crawford said.

For years Nebraska has been known for its strong college football tradition in Lincoln, Nebraska about 50 miles south of Omaha, for hosting the NCAA College Baseball World Series in Omaha, and the home of American businessman philanthropist Warren Buffet. Since his 2014 homecoming knockout win over previously undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa, Crawford has become the pride of Omaha, Nebraska.

“When you talk Omaha, you talk Terence Crawford if you aren’t talking Warren Buffet,” Crawford said. “When I fought in Omaha against Gamboa everyone was like, WOW! This is what we have been waiting on!”

Crawford expects a large number of his hometown fans to make the trek to Vegas for the Postol fight. “They will show up and chill out. A lot of people are coming to show their support,” Crawford said.

On July 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, it will be champion vs. champion.

“When I look at this fight, I look at it as #1 vs. #2, the best in the division, two undefeated fighters,” Crawford said. “I’m not thinking of who I want to fight next. Who I got in front of me now is Viktor Postol. Come fight night, we’re waiting for the victory!”

“He’ll Be Seeing The Canvas” Says Canelo vs Terence Crawford Will Ends In A Knockout

Terence Crawford is just months away from challenging Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez for his undisputed super middleweight world championship. Rolando Romero has little doubt how the action plays out.

Crawford will make the jump up two divisions from his last outing for the fight, looking to be the first man to defeat Canelo at the weight of 168 lbs. The Mexican has previously lost to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol, but is yet to be bested at super-middleweight, where he has beaten the likes of Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant and Jaime Munguia.

Rolly’ Romero, who is coming off a career best victory over Ryan Garcia, told FightHype that the weight is too much of a factor to give ‘Bud’ Crawford a chance.

“He’s 38 years old. Yeah, he saw something in Canelo. He’s about to see the canvas.

Terence Crawford

“Bivol was way bigger than Canelo. The same s*** that you saw Canelo fighting Bivol is the same s*** of Crawford moving up two weight classes to fight Canelo. Bivol is not a puncher. Canelo was trying to win the whole time, but Bivol was too big.

“Crawford is going to go in there and box Canelo’s head off the same way Amir Khan did, and out of nowhere, boom. Then we’re going to see a dead roach on the ground.”

The boxing world is split as to who comes out on top, with many opinions recently changing after Canelo’s underwhelming fight with William Scull. Crawford, however, has it all to do against a man who is completely bedded in at the weight he will be making for the first time

The American’s last outing came in August of 2024, a points win over previously undefeated Israel Madrimov to capture the WBA Super Welterweight World Title. The result ended an eleven-fight stoppage streak for ‘Bud’, perhaps showing that his power is unlikely to carry up. He faces Canelo on September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.

Terence Crawford has received yet another vote of confidence in his clash with Canelo Alvarez — this time from a seasoned Mexican trainer.

The Omaha fighter has had support from across the boxing world, including former champion Shannon Briggs, who believes he stops Alvarez late.

Terence Crawford has been full of belief for the bout despite a natural weight disadvantage as he comes up for his first super middleweight figh

One disadvantage heading into the fight for the American would be activity, as he competed last September, whereas Canelo has fought as recently as May.

Robert Garcia believes Terence Crawford has a ‘big’ chance due to Canelo being ‘comfortable’

However, Robert Garcia, the current trainer of Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, thinks the timing of this fight benefits the 37-year-old.

In an interview, he explained: “Most of the people don’t give Crawford a chance due to the size, but he’s got skills, he’s got good speed, footwork, that’s why I do give him a chance.

“Canelo’s last few fights, he gets his work done, but he never does that little extra to please, he knows he doesn’t need to anymore, he is comfortable enough with just securing the win.”

Garcia still thinks the Mexican comes in as favourite, but he believes he has morphed from a boxer to something else.

He said: “He became a businessman, that is something in favour of Crawford… at this stage, I am giving Crawford a big chance of pulling it off.”

Anthony Joshua trainer Robert Garcia was a super featherweight world champion before success as a coach

Before training big names like Anthony Joshua and Mikey Garcia, Garcia was a successful professional in his own right.

From 1992 to 2001, he was a super featherweight fighter who won the IBF title, which he defended twice successfully.

Known by the nickname ‘The Grandpa’, he amassed 34 wins with a 73% knockout ratio.

In his three losses, he was knocked out three times, including by legendary name Diego Corrales, the former two-weight world champion.

Maybe not one of his most famous moments, but Corrales landed a sickening straight right hand to floor Garcia and end the fight.

Now using his experience to train the next generation, he has so far guided Nonito Donaire and Rodriguez to success in world title fights.

With two Trainer of the Year awards under his belt already, maybe he can add another if his fighters continue their 2025 success.

Canelo Level Low Terence Crawford After He Names ‘Elite’ Fighters He’s Faced: “Who?”

Terence Crawford: The build-up to Canelo Alvarez‘s monumental showdown with Terence Crawford is well under way, It was confirmed earlier this month that the pound-for-pound stars will do battle on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo is set to make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship against ‘Bud’, just a few months on from achieving this feat for the second time in his career after he dethroned for IBF champion William Scull on May 2.

The modern greats are over halfway through a global press tour, which began in Riyadh last week and was followed by a press conference in New York City on Sunday, which ended with Canelo shoving Crawford during what was an intense face-off.

Speaking on The G.O.A.T.S Podcast, Canelo initially gave plaudits to ‘Bud’ Crawford who he claims is a ‘great fighter’, before going on to criticise the 37-year-old’s resume as he questions whether the unbeaten American has fought just ‘one elite fighter’ during his career.

“Don’t get me wrong okay, he’s a good fighter, a great fighter, I always said before I see him calling me out and wanting the fight and everything, I said before he is a great fighter but if you look at his career just mention me one elite fighter.”

The Mexican superstar then responded to claims made by Crawford that Viktor Postol and Ricky Burns are at least two ‘elite’ fighters that he has faced.

“Who? Who’s that guy? A 40-year-old champion in that moment beat Mr. Postol in my gym, I saw that. Ricky Burns? He’s not elite. There is champions, good fighters, but elite fighters are different, way different.”

Terence Crawford

Despite Canelo’s claims, Crawford could cement himself as one of the greatest fighters of all time with a victory over the Mexican superstar in September, as he sets his sights on becoming a three-weight undisputed champion in the process.

“He Beat Him” Terence Crawford Mocks Canelo Should Have Another Defeat On His Record

Terence Crawford is gearing up for the toughest test of his professional career. The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska will do battle with Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Having spent his recent years campaigning at welterweight before having one fight a super-welterweight, Crawford will make the jump up to super-middleweight ahead of his showdown with Canelo, as he bids to become the undisputed champion at 168lbs.

Should he be victorious in September, ‘Bud’ will write his name into the boxing history books by becoming the first male fighter to win an undisputed championship in three divisions, having already accomplished this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight. He would also be just the third man to beat Alvarez in 68 fights after Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol.

However, speaking on The G.O.A.T.S Podcast, Crawford revealed he is convinced that the Mexican star should have suffered at least one more.

“Canelo got a great resume, I’m not going to take it away from him. He’s fought a lot of great champions but at the age that he fought them in, they was already on a decline, some of them, and when he didn’t you see what happened, he fought Lara and I thought Lara beat him, he fought Mayweather, you see what happened? He fought Bivol when he went up and tried to be great like I’m doing and he came up short, when he fought my boy from Texas they gave him problems but it is what it is, I got the style, I got the skills, I got the heart and I’m not going to sit around and play no games with Canelo because he’s not going to play no games with me.”

Canelo vs Erislandy Lara fight took place on July 12, 2014 and was a close and tactical 12-round affair. Lara, a slick Cuban boxer, used a lot of movement and landed clean jabs, trying to avoid exchanges. Canelo, on the other hand, was more aggressive, going to the body and pressing the action.

Terence Crawford

The fight was controversial because it was hard to judge – Lara landed cleaner punches, but Canelo was more active. In the end, Canelo won by split decision, but many fans and analysts were divided on who really deserved the victory.

Since making his debut, ‘Bud’ Crawford has won world titles in four weight classes, defeating the likes of Israil Madrimov, Shawn Porter and Errol Spence Jr amongst many others.

He wrote his name into boxing history when he defeated Spence two years ago, stopping his countryman in the ninth round of their monumental showdown to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the ‘four belt era’.

The 37-year-old has also achieved undisputed status at super-lightweight, accomplishing this feat back in 2017 when he stopped former unified champion Julius Indongo in the third round of their bout in Nebraska.

In an interview with The Ring Magazine, Crawford had his say on who he believes makes up the pound-for-pound top three, ranking Ukrainian heavyweight icon Oleksandr Usyk ahead of himself.

Usyk has achieved incredible things since making entering the paid ranks back in 2013, becoming the undisputed champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.

‘Bud’ Crawford could surpass the record currently held jointly by himself, Usyk and Naoya Inoue, as he bids to become the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed championship in three divisions.

The 37-year-old is just two months away from challenging Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez for his undisputed crown at 168lbs, in what has been recognised by many as being the ‘biggest fight in boxing’.

Terence Crawford gives Conor Benn bluntly honest advice ahead of confirmed rematch with Chris Eubank Jr.

Terence Crawford: Conor Benn will get the opportunity to get revenge on bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr. when the British fighters meet in a rematch.

Benn and Eubank Jr. have been confirmed to fight for a second time in London on September 20th, as the rivals will once again compete in a middleweight bout.

In footage captured by Boxing News, Crawford and Benn had an interaction with one another, where they discussed the upcoming rematch with Eubank Jr.

The start of the video shows Crawford telling Benn, “That’s what was ——- you up, pulling out.” The British fighter responded by saying, “There’s a few adjustments to be made and we’ll just work on it.”

‘Bud’ then told the now 23-1 star that he needs to improve his fitness for the second fight. “Get in more shape. You got a little tired [in the first fight]. You hurt him, you were just too tired to [finish him], you know?”

Benn’s response was, “There’s a few things that we need to work on, and get it sorted.”

The footage ended with Crawford reiterating to Benn, “You’ve got to stop pulling out.”

Although it has been confirmed that the British rivals will compete in London, an exact venue has not yet been announced.

Although Eubank Jr. feels as if he has an advantage going into the rematch, Benn will aim to get his family their first win in four meetings against the Eubanks.

Former undisputed world champion Terence Crawford has told Benn what needs to be done for him to get the victory in the rematch.

It was originally stated after their first meeting that Eubank Jr. and Benn would once again compete at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, their rematch may take place elsewhere.

Wembley Stadium has been mentioned as a potential venue for the British dust-up to follow in the footsteps of Carl Froch and George Groves’ epic rematch.

Amir Khan:Terence Crawford Lists Fear Of Things That Worry Him About Canelo Alvarez

After years of waiting, Terence Crawford vs Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is finally going to take place.

Terence Crawford and Canelo will face off on 13 September in Las Vegas for the Mexican’s undisputed super-middleweight world championship.

Both are considered to be two of the best pound-for-pound fighters of this generation and know that defeat for either could mean the end for them at the top.

Amir Khan has previously warned Crawford about fighting Canelo and while the American is confident he can get the job done, he did once admit there were two parts of his opponent’s style that concern him.

Terence Crawford fears Canelo’s power

Over the years, Canelo has developed a fierce reputation for the power in his shots.

More than half of his fights have ended in a knockout victory for the Mexican and while Crawford isn’t fazed about facing him, Canelo’s “power and size” is something that could cause problems.

Terence Crawford

He told TMZ Sports in September 2024: “This fight is massive, definitely.

“You’ve got two guys that are top three pound-for-pound, going head to head with each other.

“I understand Canelo is bigger than me, but I’m up for the challenge. I think it’s a very intriguing fight.”

Manny Pacquiao has controversial Canelo vs Crawford opinion

Everyone is keen to predict how this fight plays out – even if it is still months away.

Manny Pacquiao is no different and ahead of his own return to the ring, the eight-time champion across three separate weight categories is backing Canelo to take home the win, but it will be his most difficult test yet.

Terence Crawford

Via Marca, he said: “It’s not easy for Crawford. I mean, Canelo has a big advantage, but Crawford needs to control his physique, his speed and his power because he’s moving up in weight.

“When I talk about skill, they have to understand what I say. It takes skill to beat practically Terence Crawford and to fight Bivol, Plant, Triple G and others. He must have skill in his fists and in how he conducts himself in the ring. Will he have that skill? I think he will.”
