“Get him out of boxing” Eddie Hearn praises Jake Paul but implores Anthony Joshua to “Get him out of boxing”

Anthony Joshua: Over the weekend, Jake Paul had another boxing event in which he was better than his opponent. But in the process, he once again showed that his choice of opponent isn’t changing the stigma around him as a boxer. No one can take him too seriously as a pure boxer because of the level of opponents he has faced.

Paul has claimed that he’s ready to take a major step up in competition following his win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The problem is that we’ve heard it from him before. If he’s serious this time, though, we could be set for a truly explosive next fight. Paul went so far as to call out two completely opposite fighters in Gervonta Davis and Anthony Joshua. Both seem outlandish all things considered.

For one, both would be far and away the most accomplished and dangerous fighters Paul has faced so far. They also aren’t even in his weight class. Davis is 60 pounds lighter than Paul, while Joshua is around 40 pounds heavier. Neither makes sense, but if Paul is serious, Joshua’s promoter says why not?

Eddie Hearn was asked about Paul calling out Joshua, and Hearn surprisingly had a lot of praise for Paul, saying he deserves respect for taking boxing seriously for so many years. Hearn also doesn’t mind the idea of Joshua fighting Paul, especially since it will lead to a lot of money for everyone involved. But he also sent Paul a warning in the process.

If he wants to be mad enough to get into a ring with Anthony Joshua and make several tens or potentially hundreds of millions, [Paul] will do it. Will AJ? He’s his own man, but I will be saying, ‘Go and deal with this guy, get him out of the game’. And I think a lot of people would tune in to watch. But is it a fight that I think should be happening? No, not really, but we live in a completely crazy world. You just never know.

After knockout taunt Boxing star Anthony Joshua issued a warning to American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul

British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has issued a warning to American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul following a taunt about his previous knockout defeats, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Paul, 28, revealed in a recent interview with The Sun that he and the former two-time heavyweight champion had been exchanging private messages earlier this year, during which he mocked Joshua over his knockout losses. However, the trolling prompted a stern response from the 35-year-old.

According to Paul, the last message he received from Joshua carried a clear and menacing tone.

“He said, ‘I can’t wait to fight. You’re gonna be fighting for your life and you’ll know the feeling that I’ve gone through.’ Or something like that,” Paul told SunSport, admitting it was the last time he heard from Joshua.

The brewing tension has fuelled speculation about a possible future clash between both men, with Paul expressing his desire to face Joshua in front of a hostile British crowd.

“My first fight was in front of an English crowd and it’s rowdy,” Paul said.

“I love walking into the lions’ den and so me versus Anthony Joshua, 100,000 people chanting ‘f*** Jake Paul’ would be pretty fun for me.”

Joshua, who has not fought since suffering a knockout defeat to fellow Brit Daniel Dubois in September, is currently recovering from elbow surgery.

Despite his recent inactivity, he remains a formidable presence in the heavyweight scene.

Paul, meanwhile, continues to blur the lines between entertainment and elite boxing. His controversial exhibition bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson was watched by over 100 million viewers on Netflix.

Paul won the eight-round fight, though it drew widespread criticism due to Tyson’s age.

As he returned to the ring on Sunday, beating former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a dominant points victory, Paul remains focused on climbing the ranks.

“I think it’s back to the drawing board after this, especially depending on what the WBC and WBA rank me after I win,” he said.

“If they rank me in the position where I can go for a world championship, then we’re gonna try and get that done.”

Eddie Hearn: Jake Paul plots talks with Anthony Joshua’s team in New York with YouTube star ‘adamant’ he wants to fight heavyweight

Anthony Joshua: Jake Paul will use his week promoting Katie Taylor’s trilogy bout with Amanda Serrano to also hold talks over a fight with Anthony Joshua.

Serrano – promoted by Paul – takes on Irish icon Taylor on July 11 at Madison Square Garden following her two controversial losses.

Taylor is also represented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing – Joshua’s long-time promoters.

So when Paul & Co stage the historic trilogy fight – talks with Hearn over a shock AJ bout will also be on the agenda.

Paul’s promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian said: “Anthony Joshua, I think that’s the main one that we talked a lot about…

“He’s adamant that he wants to make that fight happen at the end of 2026 and we’re gonna meet with Matchroom while we’re in New York to promote the greatest trilogy in the history of boxing.”

Paul had his first heavyweight fight in November when Mike Tyson controversially came out of retirement aged 58.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer won over eight, revised two-minute rounds but admitted the TWO STONE jump from cruiserweight was gruelling.

Paul, 28, returned to the 14st 4lb stone limit of 200lb in victory over former middleweight world champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 39.

“But you know, look at Deontay Wilder, he was beating these guys weighing 215lb.

“Granted he’s like 6’6 or something but anything is possible and I like the challenge.

“People’s criticism is fight someone in their prime, who’s a beast. I think people just want to see me lose! That’s really what the message is behind it all.

“He wants to make it happen. He called me up and it’s looking very likely for next year.”

Paul’s victory California against Chavez – who won the 160lb title 14 years ago – looks set to land him a world ranking in the WBC and WBA.

“Like I said, this feels like chapter one’s done tonight. Now we’re moving into chapter two and I’m just getting warmed up in this sport.

“But people hold the Tommy Fury thing against me, but what now? I just beat a former world champion and I’m coming to avenge that loss as well with Tommy.”

“Anthony Joshua is an insane fighter: But I want the challenge, Jake Paul Calls former champion Anthony Joshua to fight him next year

Anthony Joshua: Not long after the sweat had dried following Jake Paul’s victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he disclosed he’s in talks to fight another former champion: Anthony Joshua, who held the unified heavyweight belts in 2016 and 2021.

“Anthony Joshua is an insane fight, but I want that challenge,” Paul said at a post-fight news conference Saturday, June 28. “We’ve been DM’ing back and forth. He wants to make it happen. He called me up and it’s looking very likely for next year.”

In his last fight, Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) suffered a devastating fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. But at 6-6, he would have a five-inch height advantage over Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) along with significantly more experience.

Jake Paul lists other options for next fight

Even though Paul’s negotiations with Canelo Alvarez unraveled in February, he said a fight between the two still could materialize.

“No, he’s not out of the picture,” said Paul, who added that it could hinge on Paul winning a cruiserweight world title. That would lure Alvarez into the ring because it would give him a chance to become a five-weight champion, Paul speculated.

“I think that would be what interests him, and that’s the plan,” Paul said.

Other potential future opponents, Paul said, include WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and Tommy Fury, the only boxer to beat Paul. Fury won that eight-round fight by unanimous decision in 2023.

“I don’t even think I was a fighter then,” Paul said. “That was like 2 1/2 years into the sport, and I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t have the proper team around me. I didn’t have conditioning. My lifestyle outside of the ring was still that of a YouTuber, celebrity, actor, whatever I was at that point in time.

“So I wasn’t fully focused on boxing. Like I said, chapter one is done tonight, and now we’re moving into chapter two. I’m just getting warmed up in the sport. People hold the Tommy Fury thing against me, but what now? I just beat a former world champion, and I’m coming to avenge that loss as well with Tommy.”

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Sums Up Jake Paul’s Chance Of Winning World Title In Just 2 Words After Loss

Jake Paul beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the Honda Center, Anaheim, extending his professional record to 12-1 and handed the Mexican his seventh loss.

Chavez, 39 and years past his fighting best, seemed allergic to offense in the opening rounds, plodding forward but throwing very little and allowing Paul to build a steady lead

The fight followed that pattern, Chavez reluctant and Paul landing enough to win the rounds, showing that he has made some small additions to his arsenal in the form of bodywork and uppercuts. It was not a high level contest,

Chavez rallied in the ninth, finally doing enough to win the round and testing Paul’s chin a little. He looked to do the same in the tenth and final but had less success and lost wide on the cards.

Post-fight, Paul once again called out cruiserweight world champions Gilberto Ramirez – who defended his unified titles on the undercard with a points win over Yuniel Dorticos – and Badou Jack.

Though Chavez was complimentary in his own interview, he said that he feels the American is ‘not ready’ for a world title run.

“He’s strong. A good boxer [for] the first three, four rounds. After that, I feel I tired him. I don’t think he’s ready for the champions, but he’s a good fighter.”

Paul said he would fight again this year, naming the two champions above as well as lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis and Tommy Fury – the only man to have beaten him – as options.

Tells Doubters Jake Paul Beats Julio César Chávez Jr. by Unanimous Decision in 10-Round Fight, Tells Doubters to ‘Shut the F— Up’ After Win

Jake Paul‘s anticipated return to the ring ended with a victorious win against Julio César Chávez Jr. after going 10 rounds.

The fight took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday night. With a record of 11 wins and one loss, including seven knockout victories, this boxing match marks Paul’s latest win following a seven-month hiatus from the sport. His most publicized fight was against Mike Tyson in November 2024, which ended with Paul handily defeating the 58-year-old boxing great. The event became one of the most-watched sporting events on Netflix, peaking at an estimated 65 million viewers globally.

Outside of Tyson, Chávez Jr. has held a strong record with 54 wins, one draw and six losses, including 34 knockouts. From 2011 to 2012, he held the WBC middleweight title until losing to Sergio Martinez that same year. Since then, he has faced highs and lows throughout his career, including a previous defeat in 2021 against former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, whom Paul defeated in 2022.

His father, the former three-division world champion Julio César Chávez, expressed his high hopes for his son before he entered the ring with Paul.

“All fights are difficult. Jake Paul is young and strong, but he’s never faced a fighter like my son,” he said during a press conference in May. “I would’ve given Mike Tyson a better fight. He didn’t throw one punch the whole fight. This time is different.”

There were six other fights on the main card before Paul vs. Chávez Jr. The co-main event featured a battle between Gilberto Ramírez and Yuniel Dorticos, which ended in TK’s victory.
