After 50 Milestone Birthday, Tiger disclosed when he will when will he return to competitive golf

Tiger Woods is celebrating his 50th birthday – but when will golf fans be toasting the 15-time major champion’s return to competitive action?

Woods was limited to the role of tournament host at the Hero World Challenge in December due to injury, with uncertainty remaining over his future and what his schedule will look like in the years ahead.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner has played sparingly since suffering career-threatening injuries in a 2021 car crash, completing a full 72-hole tournament just four times over the past five years.

Woods missed the entire 2025 major season after rupturing his Achilles in March, then underwent disc replacement in October – at least the seventh back surgery he has had during his career.

The former world No 1 admitted recovery from his latest setback is going “not as fast” and, as of December 8, was only cleared by doctors to chip and putt.

“[Surgery] was a good thing to do, something I needed to have happen. it just takes time and dedication to the rehab process,” said Woods at the time, as he revealed he “can’t really do much” but now has the the all-clear to “start cranking up a little bit in the gym”.

Woods has made multiple injury comebacks over his lengthy career, with 2026 marking the 30th anniversary of him turning professional, but it remains unclear when we will next see him on the course.

What is certain, though, is that Tiger’s impact over the years has altered golf for the better, with Sky Sports Golf’s Rob Lee saying: “He was breathtaking. He made golf so exciting and changed the game.

“Even the youngsters starting now on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, if they see Tiger they should shake his hand as he changed the game for them.”

Woods has previously described the PNC Championship as his ‘fifth major’ with the 36-hole team competition seeing a former winner of a major or The Players tee it up alongside a family member.

He had featured in every edition since 2020 with his son, Charlie Woods, who fired a hole-in-one during the 2024 contest before they lost in a play-off to Bernhard Langer’s team.

Tiger opted out this year, though, saying it “would not be fair” on Charlie or “another team that could play and have that experience that we’ve had for a number of years.”

Woods, who played in three of Jupiter Links GC’s four losses in the tech-infused tournament last term, is part of the 2026 roster, although has ruled himself out of the early fixtures.

Jupiter Links GC play New York Golf Club on January 13 (January 14, 12am UK time), Los Angeles Golf Club on January 21 (January 20, 12am UK time) and Atlanta Drive GC on February 2 (10pm UK time), before two matches in the first week of March.

Woods said: “Hopefully I will be able play at the end of the season here and there, but I don’t know. I’ve got to hit more shots than just chip and putt in TGL – there’s a few drives I might have to hit.”

Woods made the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational his first start of the season in both 2023 and 2024, although the fact he has ruled himself out of those early TGL matches would suggest it’s unlikely he will be fit to feature at the Riviera Country Club from February 19-22.

Woods said ahead of The Masters in 2024 that he feels he can add to his major tally ‘if everything comes together’, although finished last of those who made the cut that year before making early exits at the PGA Championship, US Open and The Open.

He hasn’t been seen at a tournament offering world ranking points since the missed cut at The Open in July 2024, while his last major top-20 finish came during his memorable 2019 win at The Masters.

Tiger Woods’ Daughter Sam Alexis Emerges as an Impressive Force in Athletics and Soccer

Sam Alexis Woods, daughter of Tiger Woods, will turn 18 on June 18. The next school year will be the start of her college career, the traditional springboard to elite sport in the United States. In her recent performances in her competitive career in high school, she has already shown that she is a competent athlete who could well be aiming for the elite. Sam Alexis, in fact, competes in the FHSAA competitions as part of the Benjamin School. She plays on their soccer team as a central defender and was also part of the track and field team in the state finals.

Sam Alexis Woods, with her famous father in the stands, competed in four events. In the 100 and 400 hurdles she failed to score but in the 4×800 relay she contributed to her team’s second place finish and in the 4×400 relay, to fourth. Both events scored for Benjamin School’s victory. It is her second state title of the year, as she also won the soccer tournament, scoring the winning goal for her team.

Sam Alexis does not share too much of the family ‘inclination’ to golf. According to Tiger himself, this may be because “during my professional career golf made me spend a lot of time away from home. This may have given the sport a negative connotation for her, because golf kept her away from her father”. This ‘divorce’ is not total, because she has been a caddie for Tiger and her brother Charlie, who does aspire to be a professional, in several tournaments. The sporting interests of Tiger Woods and Erin Nordgren’s daughter are currently focused on soccer and athletics, as we can see, but she is quite rightly regarded as a ‘firm promise’ in both

The Son Who Dares to Be Different: Charlie’s Rebellious Golf Journey and the Man Who Made Him Famous – Tiger Woods

“Not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just different,” Woods said, comparing his early career to his son’s

Tiger Woods said golf is a “different world” for his son Charlie than it was when he was becoming a household name.

Speaking to Golfweek at the Hero World Challenge, a tournament in the Bahamas Tiger has hosted since 2015, the golf star made rare comments about his 16-year-old son following in his footsteps

Tiger noted that the recruiting process has been “very different” for Charlie.

“We didn’t have cell phones,” the father of two explained. “We would have written letters that would show up in the mailbox. ‘Oh, my God, I got a letter.’ “

Tiger continued, “It’s just very different, how fast coaches can communicate with the family members and the player that they’re trying to recruit. It’s just a different world. Not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just different.”

“It’s fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see where the opportunities that he has created for himself by playing better, places that he could play, wants to play, and ultimately we’ll decide where he wants to go play,” Tiger told Golfweek.

In October, Tiger underwent his seventh back surgery to address problems in his lower spine.

In a post on X following the procedure, Tiger wrote, “After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with doctors and surgeons to have tests taken. The scans determined that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal.”

He added at the time, “I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back.”

Tiger Woods mentors Trump’s granddaughter as she prepares for her first LPGA appearance.

Kai Trump will not be short of high-profile supporters when she makes her LPGA debut on Thursday.

The 18-year-old, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, received a sponsor’s exemption to play at the Annika in Florida.

Trump, a keen golfer, owns 17 courses around the world – including three in the UK – and regularly competes against Kai.

“He’s pretty good. I can’t say much but we have some tight matches,” she said.

Kai said Trump, who is unable to attend the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, told her: “Just don’t get nervous.”

She said: “My grandpa pretty much told me to go out there and have fun.

“To me, he’s just a normal grandpa. He’s not coming this weekend. He’s running the world right now, so a little busy.”

Amateur Kai has played only three events this year and is ranked number 461 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.

But she can call upon advice from 15-time major winner Tiger Woods, who is in a relationship with her mother Vanessa.

“He is the best golfer in the entire world,” said Kai.

“And he’s an even better person. He told me to go out there, have fun, go with the flow.”

Kai Trump will compete against some of the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, including world number two Nelly Korda, who won her third title in the event last year, England’s Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

The LPGA said Kai’s “broad following and reach are helping introduce golf to new audiences, especially among younger fans”.

Kai has more than six million followers on social media and recently launched her own apparel and lifestyle brand.

Tiger Woods’ s Son Charlie Woods Continues To Impress With Another Big Golf  Win

As golf fans focused on the intense Ryder Cup action, Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie Woods, was busy creating his own spotlight — and adding another win to his name.

The 16-year-old sensation carded a brilliant 68 to lead The Benjamin School to a team victory at the South Florida PGA Junior Golf West Coast High School Championship, held at The Club at TwinEagles’ Talon Course in Naples, Florida.

Charlie started strong, firing eight birdies in his opening round. Despite a bogey and a triple, he still posted an impressive 68 to sit tied for second after the first day.

Though he couldn’t quite match that explosive start in round two, he stayed composed, recording four birdies and four bogeys to close at 4-under for the 36-hole event — finishing tied for fourth overall.

Teammate Clint Lewis also finished at 4-under, and together, he and Charlie powered The Benjamin School to a narrow four-shot victory over Sarasota High School.

The individual crown went to Jack Donovan, who triumphed over Henry Liebwein in a two-hole playoff after both players finished at 9-under.

Out of 98 participants, 82 completed the tournament.

This marks Charlie’s second high school team title, following his Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class A State Championship win last November.

Now a junior at The Benjamin School, Charlie Woods continues his impressive climb through the golf ranks — currently sitting at No. 9 in the AJGA national standings, with a résumé that mirrors that of a seasoned professional.

Earlier this year, Charlie claimed his first individual AJGA victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May, then followed it up with a solid T9 finish at the Boys Junior PGA Championship two months later.

The South Florida PGA Junior Golf West Coast High School Championship also included a girls’ division, where Abigail Lee captured the individual title and Barron Collier High School took home the team crown.

There’s growing excitement that Charlie will once again join forces with his father, Tiger Woods, at the annual PNC Championship just before Christmas.

Woods, who turns 50 on 30 December, has been out of competitive action all season after recovering from surgery to repair a left Achilles tendon.

Tiger Woods cannot help but face the truth with sad verdict on his golf game

Tiger Woods summed up his sad decline by laughing at the state of his golf game as injuries threaten to bring his phenomenal career to an end.

The 15-time major champion has been ravaged by injuries in recent years. Most recently, he underwent back surgery earlier this month, not long removed from rupturing his Achilles tendon, and he has not played tournament golf since the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Those issues have compounded the wear and tear he accumulated on and off the golf course over the years, with a high-speed car crash in 2021, in particular, causing significant damage. And after his latest in a long line of surgeries, fans, pundits, and his contemporaries alike fear that his iconic career is over.

When Woods has been able to tee it up alongside the world’s best, he has been a shadow of the unstoppable force that he once was.

In his appearances at the majors in 2024, he showed fleeting flashes of the magic in his hands, but his compromised mobility dramatically hindered his endurance to play four rounds in as many days.

A rare interview with Woods was published this week by his tech-powered indoor golf league, TGL, to promote its second season, which is set to see off without him December.

It is unknown when the interview was filmed, but it is highly likely that it was recorded before Woods’ latest surgery. He was all smiles as he was asked a series of quickfire questions, one of which posed, “If your golf ball could speak, what would it say?”

It was a silly question and a bit of fun, but it elicited a revealing response from Woods. “Now?” he said. “It would probably start laughing.”

This was Woods choosing to laugh rather than cry about his decline. After all, he can rest easy knowing he has achieved everything possible in the sport. He also has the joy of watching the development of his talented son, Charlie, on the golf course.

A member of Woods’ inner circle insisted the former world No. 1 is “not in denial” about the grim outlook for his chances of competing again, but they insisted that he wants to do everything he can to give himself a chance.

“He’s not stupid,” the insider told the Daily Mail. “He won’t retire but he’s slowing down. He wants to do at least one more major and to perform well in it. He wants to end the career with a bang, not a whimper. But right now, we’ll have to see.

“He’s not in denial, but he wants to push himself until there’s nothing more he can do. It depends on his recovery if he’s there yet or not. Seems pretty likely that he is.”

Pride and Legacy : Woods Celebrates as Charlie Receives His State Golf Championship Ring

In a heartwarming scene that beautifully bridged generations, Charlie Woods—son of golf legend Tiger Woods—recently received his state championship ring, marking a defining moment in his young career. The celebration that followed, shared with his father, was not just about victory—it was about legacy, pride, and the continuation of one of golf’s most extraordinary family stories.

The presentation of the championship ring was more than a ceremony; it was a statement. At just 16, Charlie has already demonstrated the competitive fire and poise that once propelled his father to superstardom. Wearing the ring, he stood with quiet confidence, his father beside him, both smiling with unmistakable pride. For Tiger Woods, who has spent decades atop the world of golf, the moment seemed to carry an emotional weight beyond trophies and titles. This was about watching his son carve out a name of his own.

Observers noted how the two Woods share more than just a powerful swing and laser focus—they share an unspoken bond built on mutual respect. Over the years, Tiger has often been spotted walking the fairways during Charlie’s tournaments, serving as both mentor and supporter.

“Like Father, Like Son! Tiger Woods Bursts with Pride as Charlie Woods Dominates Again in Major Golf Victory

While golf fans were glued to the Ryder Cup drama, Tiger Woods’ son Charlie Woods was quietly putting on a show of his own — and winning again.

The individual title went to Jack Donovan, who beat Henry Liebwein in a two-hole playoff after both finished on 9-under-par.

Out of 98 starters, 82 players completed the event.
