“In spite of Gervonta Davis’ legal complications, a bout with Shakur Stevenson is reportedly still being planned.”

Boxer Gervonta Davis is facing a sporting hiatus to deal with his legal troubles. However, promoter Eddie Hearn wants the famous “Tank’s” next fight to be against Shakur Stevenson, although he is not sure if this fight can take place. Even his next fight against Lamont Roach Jr in August is in doubt as to whether it will take place.

Eddie Hearn has a Plan B where if Tank can’t face Stevenson, the promoter can choose between the winners of Andy Cruz against Raymond Muratalla or the winner of Abdullah Mason against Sam Noakes. Hearn still needs to re-sign Stevenson, as his two-fight contract with Matchroom expired with his fight last Saturday night against William Zepeda in Queens, New York.

Shakur Stevenson, a boxer to Eddie Hearn’s liking

For the promoter, it is clear that the trial contract is about to expire so he intends to draw up a new one, but now on a long-term basis. “He has had two fights. We will now talk about an extension with Matchroom. Hopefully we can continue that relationship. We would love to. We have to reach a proper agreement for the fight. I think we can achieve it”, said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about his desire to renew Shakur Stevenson’s contract.

The petro-dollars are on Hearn’s side, who has the support of Turki Alalshikh, the Arab sheikh and boxing promoter, where he can arrange the fight between Gervonta Davis and Shakur. Only then will the fight be finalized. Tank Davis will want a similar salary to Turki’s, and Hearn could not afford it. The two fights Shakur had with Matchroom were against William Zepeda and Josh Padley. It is worth noting that Hearn did not make the most of the two-fight deal with Shakur because the fight with Floyd Schofield was canceled last February.

Sam Noakes will fight Abdullah Mason for the vacant WBO lightweight title. Andy Cruz will fight Muratalla for the IBF title. Opportunities will arise there. “He will be very difficult to beat,” Hearn said of Shakur. Perhaps Hearn is overdoing it with his praise of Stevenson. Last night’s fight between Stevenson and William Zepeda was one of the toughest of Stevenson’s career. Even running, he suffered because of Zepeda’s pressure.

Gervonta davis

It’s easy to think of that fight and assume that it will be much more difficult for Shakur if he decides to fight the heavyweights, Andy Cruz, Raymond Muratalla or Abdullah Mason. Cruz’s power, speed and technique would be a nightmare for Shakur. Tank Davis still has a rematch with Lamont Roach, scheduled for August 16. However, the fight has not been officially announced and it is questionable whether it will take place on that date. If it is delayed, Shakur will have to look for another option for his next fight. He can’t just wait for Davis.

Rematch Report: PBC Eyes New Dates for Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Rematch, Targeting August 23 or 30 in Las Vegas

Gervonta Davis’ immediate rematch with Lamont Roach has been pushed back at least another week or two, perhaps longer.
The Ring learned Sunday that representatives for Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions were working over the weekend to determine if the second 12-round, 135-pound championship bout between Davis and Roach could be scheduled for Aug. 23 or 30 in Las Vegas.
PBC intended to hold their WBA lightweight championship rematch Aug. 16 in Las Vegas, but fighting on that date became increasingly unlikely even before Davis was arrested again Friday for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the mother of two of his children, on June 15 in Doral, Florida.

The Ring reported two months ago that the Davis-Roach rematch would take place Aug. 16, but PBC never announced it for that date.
The Ring has also learned Davis, 30, had stopped training in Miami for approximately three weeks prior to his arrest Friday. It isn’t clear how yet another legal issue could impact his availability to fight next month and beyond.
Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs), of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is obligated to an immediate rematch with Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) because the Baltimore native exercised that contractual right after they fought to a surprising majority draw March 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Davis was heavily favored to win.

If Davis is either unable or unwilling to commit to their rematch within a reasonable period of time, however, Roach’s representatives could begin exploring other options for the WBA super featherweight champion’s next fight.
Gervonta davisHandlers for Davis, The Ring’s No. 1-ranked lightweight, and Roach, ranked No. 4 among The Ring’s junior lightweight contenders, first talked about scheduling their rematch for June 21 in Las Vegas. Davis reportedly wanted more time to train, though, which was when the targeted date moved to Aug. 16, four weeks from this Saturday.

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya Sends Gervonta Davis Scathing Message For Domestic Violence Arrest

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is tired of Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ antics after his most recent arrest.

On July 11, boxing superstar and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of assault after an alleged domestic violence dispute with his ex-girlfriend.

The incident occurred on June 15, when Davis allegedly struck the woman (with whom he shares two children) on the back of the head and also slapped her in the face while she was removing the children from the back of Davis’ car.

The victim had a cut on her inner lip as a result of this altercation, and her mother, who appeared on the scene after she received a distraught text message from her daughter, had a phone recording where Davis could reportedly be seen throwing an object at his ex-girlfriend.

Davis was released on bail on Friday morning. And videos of him leaving the jail where he was being held have since gone viral on social media.

This isn’t the first time Davis has been connected to a domestic violence case, as he was arrested for allegedly striking a woman (presumably the same woman as this most recent incident) with a “closed hand type slap” in December 2022. However, these charges were ultimately dropped because the woman involved declined to press charges against Davis.

It seems that members of the boxing community are fed up with Davis’ actions. This was shown by comments that the legendary Oscar De La Hoya made when he was asked about Tank’s most recent arrest by Fight Hub TV on July 12.

“He did, huh? Again?” De La Hoya said when told about Davis’ arrest. “Look, I actually like Tank Davis. He’s a good kid, he’s a good fighter, a great fighter, actually. He’s one of my favorites.

“Just get your s*** together, man. That’s it. You don’t hit women, man,” he added.

The 29-year-old undefeated boxer was arrested on the morning of July 11, 2025, in Miami Beach. A license plate reader flagged his vehicle, leading to his apprehension. The arrest stemmed from an incident that reportedly occurred on Father’s Day, June 15, in Doral, Florida, involving the mother of his children.

According to the police report, Davis allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend during a heated exchange, a claim supported by video evidence provided by the woman’s mother. Davis was booked and later released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after posting bail.

Shakur Stevenson names his opponent for ‘the biggest and best fight in boxing

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has claimed that a bout between himself and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is “the biggest and best fight in boxing”.

Stevenson defends his title on Saturday, live on DAZN PPV, when he takes on the dangerous Mexican William Zepeda in the co-main event of Ring III

A three-weight world champion, Stevenson has achieved a lot in his eight years as a professional boxer and he is always on the hunt for the biggest fights possible.

One name which Stevenson is frequently linked with is knockout artist ‘Tank’ Davis, and it is an all-American showdown that the former believes needs to happen sooner rather than later.

“Me and Tank is the biggest and best fight in boxing. That’s the fight to make,” Stevenson told DAZN.

“That’s a fight I’ve been wanting forever, and I know that the time is here. We can’t wait no longer.

“Me versus Tank Davis is the fight to make, I’m excited for the challenge, but I’ve got to handle this challenge first.”

shakur stevenson

As Stevenson stated, a win over Zepeda is needed if he is to make a fight with Davis a reality, but ‘Tank’ also has to hold up his end of the bargain.

After drawing with Lamont Roach in March, Davis is set to be involved in a rematch with sources reporting that the contest will take place on August 16.

‘Let’s Make the Fade Happen’Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Given Bold Challenge From Shakur Stevenson

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Given Bold Challenge From Shakur Stevenson: ‘Let’s Make the Fade Happen’ originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta “Tank” Davis have risen in the boxing world as two of the sport’s most electrifying lightweight stars, each carving a path of dominance with unbeaten records and world titles, with Stevenson as the WBC champion and Davis holding the WBA strap. While Stevenson’s technical mastery and defensive brilliance have drawn comparisons to Floyd Mayweather, Davis has cemented his reputation as a fearsome knockout artist with mainstream appeal

A clash between them would not only unify the division but test whether Stevenson’s elusive craft can withstand Davis’s fight-ending power, making it one of the sport’s most tantalizing matchups. Despite this, negotiations between the two fighters have constantly stalled, and boxing fans wonder whether or not this fight will ever happen.

Ahead of his long-anticipated fight with William Zepeda on July 12, Stevenson doubled down on his pursuit of Gervonta Davis during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, framing their potential clash as the fight boxing needs.

The WBC lightweight champion left no room for ambiguity, declaring, “We gotta run it. It’s a fade that’s gotta happen. I mean, everybody has been calling for it. He done said it several times. Let’s make the fade happen.”

His callout reflects years of stalled negotiations, and his growing impatience over “Tank’s” refusal to share the ring with him.

Stevenson also critiqued the shifting public perception of Davis, arguing that criticism of the WBA champion has been replaced by unwarranted immunity.

“They used to criticize Tank. If you really go back in the day, they used to criticize him all the time,” Stevenson observed. “Now they flipped the switch to where anything he does, he can’t do wrong.”

He admits, however, that Davis’ ability to sidestep scrutiny has halted as of late after his controversial draw against Lamont Roach Jr.

Gervonta davis

“I think he got a little bit of heat (after the Lamont Roach Jr. fight), but I think it was just the haters coming back out. But if you remember before the fight, he was just this untouchable, invincible guy,” Stevenson said.

Central to Stevenson’s argument is Davis’ own trash talk. He reminded Helwani that Tank has repeatedly dismissed his skills, making their rivalry personal.

“He said it in several different interviews that I was on his list, and what he was going to do to me. [He said] I don’t have power, I’m not that good. All these different things he said. If you really felt that way, then we should really get in the ring and fight.”

The fight promises a clash of styles, with Tank’s knockout artistry pitted against Stevenson’s defensive mastery. More importantly, the back-and-forth jawing between the two undefeated boxers reveals a deeper clash of egos.

Gervonta davis

Whether Davis exits the sport in 2025 or faces his most difficult test on paper, Stevenson will continue to campaign for that fight in the hopes that their bitter rivalry will culminate in the squared circle and define this era of boxing.

‘Tank’ Davis: I Recieved Deadly Threat and Fake Promise from Lamont Roach For Rematch With Him

he August 16 rematch against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will be a very special moment for Lamont Roach Jr, where he surely feels he has something to prove to the world, once his last appearances in the ring have left many doubts about his mentality to fight for the WBA lightweight title.

This is because Roach Jr. proved many people wrong during his March 1 fight, which ended in a majority draw. Meanwhile, Gervonta “Tank” Davis went into that fight as a -1600 favorite, and many believed Roach Jr. had no chance against one of the sport’s biggest stars. Then, Roach Jr. not only stood up to Tank, but most believe he should have won the fight, given the multiple fouls Davis committed (such as kneeing in the ninth round) that should at least have cost him points.

Roach Jr’s strong threat to Tank Davis

But even after that fight, some do not give Roach Jr the respect he deserves. Instead, the boxing community says that Tank was not in his usual mental state before stepping into the ring, and that showed in his lackluster performance. In other words, they don’t think Roach Jr is ready to face the best version of Davis. However, the challenger is preparing to prove the doubters wrong. And he went a step further with a rather disturbing claim he made during training, which was broadcast on YouTube.

Gervonta will be the reason I catch a body in this fight, you see?”. The camera then focused on one of Roach’s trainers, who said: “The champion doesn’t lie! That joker will be the reason I catch a body, I assure you”. Surely, the fact that Roach Jr. invokes this same sentiment will come as a surprise to the boxing world.

It is unclear exactly what Roach Jr and his trainer were referring to, but “catching a body” is commonly used as a colloquial expression meaning to commit murder. This phrase has become famous in the boxing community since heavyweight Deontay Wilder claimed in May 2019 that “he was still trying to get a body on my record”, which generated much criticism about his intentions.

The fight between Lamont Roach Jr. and Gervonta Davis will be one of the most anticipated of the year, where Tank will have to prove that he is up to the task to retain the WBA lightweight title, but the challenger will have to show the world that he is the real owner of the belt.

Once He’s Dealt With: Shakur vs Gervonta Is On the Horizon And After William Zepeda Challenge

In what could soon become the most defining showdown in the modern lightweight era, boxing fans around the world are buzzing over the potential super fight between Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta “Tank” Davis. The latest headline—“Once He’s Dealt With, Then Best Lightweight In The World Shakur Will Face Gervonta Davis”—has sparked widespread anticipation. But first, Shakur must get past one of the division’s most dangerous contenders: William Zepeda.

The Road to Supremacy: Why This Fight Matters

The lightweight division is stacked with talent, but few names carry the same weight as Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis. Both fighters are undefeated, boast elite skill sets, and possess contrasting styles that make a future bout between them a dream matchup.

But before fans can get too far ahead, Shakur Stevenson has business to handle. Standing in his way is William “Camaron” Zepeda, the relentless Mexican southpaw who has built a reputation on volume punching, pressure, and a granite chin. Zepeda is not just a hurdle; he’s a legitimate threat to any top lightweight.

Shakur Stevenson: Master of the Sweet Science

Shakur Stevenson has long been hailed as one of boxing’s most gifted technicians. A former Olympic silver medalist, Shakur is a two-weight world champion who has yet to be truly tested in the professional ranks. His slick footwork, defensive wizardry, and pinpoint accuracy make him a nightmare for any opponent.

His recent performances, including dominant wins over Oscar Valdez and Edwin De Los Santos, have solidified his status as one of the sport’s pound-for-pound elite. Yet critics often argue he’s yet to face someone with relentless pressure and high-volume output like William Zepeda.

William Zepeda may not have the same mainstream name recognition as Stevenson or Davis, but hardcore boxing fans know what he brings to the table. With an undefeated record and a ferocious style, Zepeda has earned his place among the division’s most feared contenders.

He throws punches in bunches, often exceeding 1,000 punches per fight. His engine never stalls, and his forward momentum has broken down opponent after opponent. For Shakur, a calculated and cerebral fighter, Zepeda’s style could pose the exact type of chaos that disrupts rhythm and tests endurance.

If Shakur beats Zepeda convincingly, it erases any lingering doubts about his toughness, adaptability, and readiness for Tank Davis.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis: The Finisher

Then there’s Gervonta Davis—the explosive knockout artist who combines raw power with underrated boxing IQ. With a record filled with highlight-reel finishes, Davis has already knocked out the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Ryan Garcia.

While Tank has primarily relied on his devastating left hand to dismantle opponents, his timing, patience, and ability to adjust mid-fight are what make him truly dangerous. A bout with Stevenson would be a battle of brains and brawn, of finesse vs firepower, defense vs destruction.

Shakur Stevenson’s confidence is unwavering. The statement “Once He’s Dealt With…” isn’t just about William Zepeda—it’s a declaration to the entire lightweight division. For Shakur, Zepeda is the final test before the ultimate challenge. And for Gervonta Davis, the time for legacy-defining fights is now.

If both remain undefeated, their collision is inevitable—and it could become one of the greatest fights in boxing’s recent history.

Stay tuned. The road to lightweight supremacy is heating up—and once Zepeda is “dealt with,” the war between Shakur and Tank might finally begin.

“Be ready.  Your division Is next Gervonta Calls Out Undefeated World Champion and Sets Sights on New Division

Gervonta “Tank” Davis has once again shaken up the boxing world. Following a public statement that has gone viral across social media, the undefeated knockout artist has issued a clear challenge to another unbeaten world champion—signaling his intent to climb into a new weight class and cement his legacy across multiple divisions.

“Be ready. I’m coming to your division next. Let’s see who really run it,” Davis declared on Instagram Live, setting fans and analysts abuzz with speculation.

Who Is Tank Targeting?

While Davis didn’t name his target outright, multiple insiders suggest he’s calling out Shakur Stevenson, the WBC Lightweight Champion and fellow undefeated American standout. Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) has long been considered one of the most technically gifted fighters of his generation—making a clash between the two a potential mega-fight for boxing purists and mainstream audiences alike.

Others speculate that Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs), who last fought at 140 pounds, may be aiming even higher—toward a showdown with Subriel Matías, the IBF Super Lightweight Champion known for his relentless pressure and knockout power. Either way, Tank’s message is loud and clear: he’s coming for champions outside his current domain.

Moving back into a higher weight class—perhaps permanently—would place him among an elite group of multi-division champions like Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, and Manny Pacquiao. But it’s not just about belts anymore—it’s about defining greatness.

Why the Callout Matters Now

This bold move comes just as Davis is preparing for his August 16 rematch with Lamont Roach Jr., a bout he hopes will quiet critics following their disputed draw earlier this year. While most fighters would stay laser-focused on their next opponent, Davis is already looking ahead—sending a message to any champion daring enough to test him.

MORE NEWS : Gervonta Davis Accused Of Planning Retirement Just To Avoid

Boxing insiders view this as a power move: an attempt to assert dominance not just in one weight class, but over the entire lightweight and junior welterweight scenes.

“Davis isn’t waiting for fights to come to him anymore,” said Showtime analyst Paulie Malignaggi. “He’s calling his shots. And when Tank says ‘be ready,’ you better take it seriously.”

What Does This Mean for the Lightweight Division?

With Devin Haney recently moving up and vacating belts, and Vasiliy Lomachenko contemplating retirement, the lightweight division has become a battlefield in transition. Stevenson, Frank Martin, and William Zepeda are all vying for control. Now, with Davis hinting at either domination or departure, the power balance may shift once again.

What’s Next?

First, Davis must handle business against Roach in Las Vegas this August. Promoters are already eyeing a blockbuster year-end fight for Tank, potentially in December 2025, if he emerges unscathed.

“Tank has earned the right to go hunting,” said Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe. “He’s chasing greatness now.”

Rumors suggest preliminary talks are already underway between PBC and Top Rank to explore the possibility of a Davis vs. Stevenson super-fight in early 2026.

Final Thoughts

With his confident message—“Be ready”—Gervonta Davis is making more than just noise. He’s setting the stage for legacy-defining matchups, multi-division dominance, and a seismic shift in the boxing landscape. Whether it’s Shakur Stevenson, Subriel Matías, or another elite fighter in the crosshairs, one thing is certain: Tank is coming.

And the boxing world better be ready.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis Set for Explosive Rematch Against Lamont Roach Jr. on August 16

Gervonta “Tank” Davis is officially set to return to the ring for one of the most anticipated rematches of 2025. The undefeated knockout artist will face Lamont Roach Jr. in a highly charged second bout on August 16, 2025, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, live on Amazon Prime Video Pay-Per-View. The rematch follows their controversial first encounter, and fans are expecting fireworks this time around.

What Happened in the First Fight?

The original bout between Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) and Roach (25-1-1, 15 KOs) took place on March 1, 2025, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. While Davis entered the ring as the heavy favorite, the fight didn’t go according to script.

Roach surprised many by pushing Davis to the limit, landing crisp counters and maintaining composure under pressure. The contest ended in a majority draw, with scores of 114-114, 114-114, and 115-113 in favor of Roach.

The fight was not without controversy. Davis appeared to go down briefly in the ninth round, later attributing it to “slippery hair grease” rather than a punch. Roach’s team filed a protest, arguing their fighter had done enough to win. While the result stood, the demand for a rematch became overwhelming from fans and analysts alike.

This event marks Davis’s first rematch in recent memory and his return to Las Vegas—where he previously headlined major cards. For Roach, it is a golden opportunity to prove the first result was no fluke and to secure his first major world title.

Both fighters are putting it all on the line. Davis, known for his explosive power and celebrity following, is looking to reaffirm his dominance. A second shaky performance—or worse, a loss—could tarnish his pristine record and jeopardize future megafights.

Roach, on the other hand, has everything to gain. A win over one of boxing’s biggest names would catapult him into stardom and open doors for title unification bouts or lucrative fights with top contenders like Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, or Devin Haney.

Roach’s Response

Roach has embraced the role of underdog-turned-contender. Confident and composed, he believes Davis underestimated him the first time—and will make the same mistake again.

“They didn’t give me a chance before the first fight. Now they know what I bring,” Roach stated. “I’m walking out of Vegas with that belt.”
