Lamont Roach Breaks His Silence With Shocking Update on Rematch Plans Following Gervonta Davis’ Arrest

Gervonta Davis was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach due to allegations of assault on his ex-girlfriend. The reported incident took place on Father’s Day, June 15.

‘Tank’ Davis has been accused of hitting his former girlfriend on the back of the head, as well as slapping her, leaving the victim with a cut on the inner lip. The WBA lightweight champion was also filmed by the victim’s mother throwing a small object at her.

This has put serious question marks over Davis’ boxing future, including his rematch against Lamont Roach. Davis and Roach fought out a controversial majority draw in March, where ‘Tank’ took a deliberate knee but it wasn’t counted as a knockdown.

The pair has a scheduled rematch for August 16. However, there is speculation whether the fight would go ahead at all following Davis’ run-in with the law. Lamont Roach Jr has now confirmed the status of the fight, claiming Davis is already out of jail and the clash will go ahead as planned.

I heard buddy is home already. So, for all of you people that keep talking that we’re not fighting, this and that. I just wanna let you know that the fight is still on. The fight is still scheduled for August 16. We’re just waiting on the announcement.

Fight Fans Stunned as Pacquiao-Gervonta Davis Clash Looms in Explosive Comeback Twist

In a twist that has sent shockwaves through the boxing world, whispers of an electrifying super-fight between living legend Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten star Gervonta “Tank” Davis have suddenly evolved into serious speculation—leaving fans and insiders alike on the edge of their seats.

What began as quiet chatter in the back corners of fight forums and media circles has now erupted into a full-blown frenzy, with multiple sources hinting that the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, may be considering one last seismic return to the ring. And his chosen target? None other than the explosive and undefeated knockout artist, Gervonta Davis.

A Clash of Eras

Gervonta davis

This potential showdown represents more than just a boxing match—it’s a symbolic clash between two generations. On one end of the ring, you have Manny Pacquiao, a warrior whose legendary career spans over two decades, known for his relentless speed, thunderous combinations, and humble demeanor that made him a global icon. Pacquiao, who officially retired in 2021 after losing a decision to Yordenis Ugas, has stayed relatively close to the sport—teasing comebacks, participating in exhibitions, and never completely shutting the door on one last war.

On the other side stands Gervonta Davis, the face of the new wave of boxing: fast, flashy, ferocious, and undefeated. With a 30-0 record, including 28 knockouts, Davis has dismantled nearly every name in his path and has long been hailed as one of the most dangerous punchers in the sport. Mentored by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Davis embodies a modern style of power and precision that has captivated fans worldwide.

The Seeds of a Super-Fight

The first whispers of this fantasy bout began during a meeting earlier this year involving influential boxing figure Turki Alalshikh, known for orchestrating massive fight cards in Saudi Arabia. With the Middle East now a global hub for mega-fights, the financial and promotional foundation for a Pacquiao-Davis showdown could realistically take shape sooner than expected.

According to close sources, preliminary discussions have taken place—not just hypothetically, but with real interest from both camps. While nothing has been officially confirmed, those familiar with Pacquiao’s inner circle claim the Filipino icon is “very serious” about one final, legacy-defining fight before permanently hanging up his gloves.

This could be the biggest comeback story in decades,” said one industry insider. “Manny doesn’t just want another payday—he wants to prove he can still compete with the best of today.”

Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis has remained cryptic but notably open to the idea. When asked about the possibility of facing Pacquiao during a recent media appearance, Tank simply smirked and said, “I’ll fight anybody. Legends included.

Risk, Reward, and Relentless Anticipation

There’s no denying the stakes would be monumental for both men. For Pacquiao, this would be a high-risk, high-reward finale—an opportunity to cement his legacy with a modern-day scalp, or risk a brutal defeat that could taint the twilight of his career.

Gervonta davis

For Davis, it’s a different type of challenge. While he would enter the ring as a heavy favorite due to youth and power, fighting Pacquiao comes with its own pressure—namely, the burden of facing a legend who has defied odds more times than most can count. A victory would elevate Davis beyond current rivals and into the upper echelon of boxing immortality. A loss, however, could shatter the aura of invincibility he’s carefully built.

‘Don’t Let Me Expose You” Gervonta Davis Accused of Hiding Fear as Lamont Roach Issues Chilling Warning:

The Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach rematch looks set for August 16. Their first fight back in March was one of the most controversial events in recent boxing history. The clash ended in a majority draw and the focal point was Davis taking a knee in the ninth round of the contest.

The deliberate action wasn’t counted as a knockdown and Davis later claimed that hair grease dripped into his eyes, forcing him to take a knee. ‘Tank’ retained the WBA lightweight title due to the draw, however, there’s no denying that Roach pushed him to the limits.

Ahead of the rematch, Roach has one clear message for ‘Tank’, “Meet me in the middle of the ring, and we’ll see who leaves out of there.”

Roach was also asked whether he thinks ‘Tank’ Davis is scared of him. He claimed Davis is not necessarily scared on a personal level, but he doesn’t want to get embarrassed. Roach told TMZ Sports:

I won’t necessarily say he’s scared of me as a man, but he’s scared to get embarrassed, that’s his problem.

Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach 2 is one of the biggest fights to look out for. Roach recently suggested that ‘Tank’ hasn’t signed his side of the contract yet. However, judging by his recent interview, that doesn’t look like the case as he answered the question with a smile.

Gervonta davis

Not many fighters willingly stay in the pocket and trade with Gervonta Davis, with ‘Tank’ scoring 28 of his 30 wins by knockout. Lamont Roach, however, took everything Davis had to offer in the first fight. He landed some beautiful shots of his own and often had Davis in vulnerable positions.

There was a consensus that Davis wasn’t entirely focused on the fight, resulting in a lackluster performance. And some expect him to come out much sharper in the rematch. That said, Roach is high on confidence and will be doing his own homework.

“Let’s Do It Again” Dangerous Heavyweight Responds To Tyson Fury’s Call To Fight

Tyson Fury has begun mentioning names for his possible ring return.

He announced back in January that he was hanging up the gloves following back-to-back losses to generational great Oleksandr Usyk. Both fights, in May and December 2024, were decided on points, and Fury believes he actually won both.

Regardless, the first win made Usyk the undisputed heavyweight champion on top of being a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, and if he beats Daniel Dubois this weekend, he will be the first ever two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler.

Fury announced last week he was keen to have a trilogy fight with Usyk in April next year, which the Ukrainian has said he might be open to.

Another heavyweight has now entered the equation though, after claiming that he has been called out by ‘The Gypsy King.’

Speaking to Seconds Out, hard-hitting Zhilei Zhang revealed Fury has been mentioning his name and said he would love to fight.

“There were reports that Tyson Fury was speaking my name in front of the media, saying that I’ll fight him in China. Let’s go, I’ll fight him in China.”

He then expressed how much a fight in his homeland would mean to him

“Yeah, it’s always been my dream.”

It was put to him that the former WBC champion Fury is great at mind games and was asked what he might say in the build-up to get under his skin.

“I’m never a big talker, I talk with my fists.”

It is unknown if Fury will return immediately into a big fight or if he may need a warm-up or two before stepping in with the likes of Zhang, who has fought at the top level and knocked out Deontay Wilder, but also lost on points to Joseph Parker and was stopped by Agit Kabayel last time out.

“He’s Going Down—No Doubt About It” Tyson Fury Drops Chilling Final Prediction for Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois

Tyson Fury knows Oleksandr Usyk, as a fighter, better than most. He has now weighed in on how his undisputed heavyweight championship fight against Daniel Dubois this weekend might play out.

Usyk first became the four-belt heavyweight ruler last year when he handed Fury his first loss. For the contracted rematch, he was forced to vacate the IBF belt and it was promptly picked up by Dubois, setting up this weekend’s Wembley battle.

When asked about the proposition of facing Dubois in the future during a conversation with the media, as reported by Boxing Scene, Fury said he would comfortably beat his countryman before predicting Usyk will do the same in this rematch.

“I don’t think [Dubois] will beat your man [Usyk] anyway. I think [Usyk]’s a tricky old wily character and he moves his feet. We all know that if you stand in front of Daniel Dubois, he’ll punch a hole in you. You move your feet around him, he’ll probably get tired and take a knee after about eight rounds with a jab.”

Though much of the debate on the return fight has centred on the low blow which left Usyk recovering on the canvas in the fifth round back in 2023, Fury’s prediction is a reminder of how it all ended: the Brit on one knee missing the referee’s count in the ninth.

Both men will take confidence from what they have done since, making it an intriguing main event for the biggest prize in the sport.

Following his second loss to Usyk, ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his retirement from the sport. He has since u-turned on that decision, as most expected, and announced he would like a trilogy.

Shocking Report: Gervonta Davis Allegedly Struck Ex Amid Tense Clash Over Son’s Sexuality Concerns

MIAMI — More legal trouble for Baltimore native and world boxing champion Gervonta Davis.

Davis was arrested Friday morning in Miami Beach, Florida, on a domestic violence warrant.

ESPN reports Davis allegedly slapped and punched the mother of his children in the head while exchanging custody last month.

According to a police report obtained by ESPN, the Father’s Day assault occurred after Davis expressed “insecurities about the sexuality of their son.”

The boxer’s ex-girlfriend told officers she sought treatment at the hospital afterwards.

Police noted “approximately 10” prior physical altercations between the former couple that went undocumented.

He was arrested for alleged domestic abuse in 2020, and again in December 2022.

Charges were ultimately dropped in both cases.

Davis also pleaded guilty to a serious hit and run crash that took place in Baltimore.

He was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest followed by three-years of probation for that incident.

Davis is next due in a Florida courtroom on July 29. He’s currently free on $10,000 bond.

Gervonta Davis is once again all over the headlines, this time for the wrong reasons. Davis was arrested on July 11 in Coral Gables for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The incident reportedly took place on Father’s Day.

Davis went to collect his children from his former partner’s house which is where the altercation began. ESPN reports that the argument began due to “personal matters and Gervonta having insecurities about the sexuality of their son.”

As his former partner approached to take his children out of Tank’s car, the WBA lightweight champion hit her on the back of the head and also slapped her, leaving the victim with a cut inside her lip. The victim’s mother also recorded part of the incident where he was spotted throwing an object at her.

Davis has since been released from custody on bail.

This is the third time Davis has been taken into custody on charges of domestic violence, the previous two being in 2020 and 2022. A part of the boxing world is livid with the repeated charges, and so is British star Conor Benn. He thinks ‘Tank’ Davis should be banned from the sport for his actions. Speaking to iFL TV, he said:

He’s an idiot. Listen, I don’t care who you are, how much world titles you’ve got, you can shove your world titles up your a**. You lay a hand on a woman, you lay a finger on a woman, you deserve to be incarcerated. You deserve to never be able to fight again and be banged up for life.

Benn added, “I’ve got four sisters, I have a daughter myself. Anyone puts their hands on them, they are dead’. Benn added he’d never share the ring with ‘Tank’ Davis, calling the latter a ‘scumbag’.

“He’s putting his hands on a woman, I think this is his 20th arrest. So, less to the free and more the lock him up for good. I don’t condone it at all. I don’t know how it comes to your head. When you are a trained fighter, let alone a normal man. What are you doing mate? To even think about it? Let alone get charged for it.”

Lamont Roach Suddenly Backtracks on Davis Rematch After Tank’s Arrest Sends Shockwaves Through the Boxing World

Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach looked set to have their rematch on August 16. However, Davis was arrested on July 11 on charges of domestic violence against his former girlfriend, who is the mother of the boxer’s two children. He has since been released from custody.

Reports emerged that ‘Tank’ Davis stopped training following the incident on June 15th and that PBC was exploring a new date for the rematch, noting that the initial date could be postponed a week or two.

The rematch currently looks in limbo, and Roach has now provided an additional update regarding the likelihood of the fight going forward. He initially claimed the rematch would go ahead as planned on August 16, however, his latest comments contradict that stance and he now doubts the rematch will go ahead at all.

During his latest stream, ‘The Reaper’ said:

I ain’t gonna lie bro, I just think this n**** don’t wanna fight. Remember when I tweeted, can he hold up his end of [the deal]? He still ain’t getting past that. That makes me mad, I am not gonna lie. It’s still a possibility but I think little bro just don’t wanna get in there. I really think that.

Gervonta davis

Roach added that there’s no certainty about the rematch going forward and he is unhappy about it. He says he’s been looking sharp in training but thinks Davis is too scared to have a rematch.
Their first fight back in March ended in a majority draw where Davis retained the WBA lightweight title. ‘Tank’ took a deliberate knee in the fight which wasn’t correctly counted as a knockdown.

Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) stood toe-to-toe with Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) and took what ‘Tank’ had to offer. He landed some significant counter shots of his own, often stumbling Davis. It was certainly the toughest fight of Davis’ career.

Some believe Roach is the perfect anecdote to Davis’ style while others reckon ‘Tank’ didn’t take the fight as seriously as he should have. All these narratives make the rematch an intriguing prospect, which unfortunately looks in serious jeopardy at the moment.

“Jake Paul Shocks Everyone by Agreeing to Outrageous Terms for Anthony Joshua Fight During Secretive Turki Alalshikh Meeting”

Jake Paul has proven he is serious about facing Anthony Joshua by accepting an incredibly low purse split for the crossover clash.

‘The Problem Child’ met with Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh last week to discuss a possible fight with AJ.

Paul has set his sights on the former unified heavyweight champion after overcoming Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in his last outing.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer vowed to knock out Joshua during a lengthy rant on his podcast where he claimed the Watford powerhouse ‘doesn’t have a chin’

This led to a phone call with the Olympic gold medallist, where both men verbally agreed to face each other in 2026.

Boxing mogul Alalshikh was then contacted to get involved with the fight

And during a recent appearance on ‘Tha Boxing Voice’, he revealed that Paul had accepted his proposal for a 99-1 purse split in Joshua’s favour.

“I’m not against what Jake Paul’s doing in boxing, it’s good for boxing to have a young generation,” said Alalshikh.

“I’m against some kinds of fights he does. I’m now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me.

Amir Khan Drops Bombshell, Suggests “A J” Has One Foot Out of Boxing in ‘Semi-Retirement’

Amir Khan discussed Anthony Joshua’s future and said the former heavyweight champion is currently in “semi-retirement”.

Anthony Joshua is currently in “semi-retirement” as talks of a long-awaited fight with Tyson Fury remain unresolved, according to Amir Khan.

Joshua has not fought since his emphatic loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

Since then, he has been linked with high-profile opponents, including Fury and Deontay Wilder, but no fight has yet been confirmed.

It is believed that Fury is open to coming out of retirement, having verbally agreed to return to face Joshua. However, negotiations remain ongoing as both camps work through financial details.

Khan recently met Joshua in Ghana and has now shared insights from their conversation.

He revealed Joshua’s current focus is away from the ring:

“He seems to be in semi-retirement.

“He’s looking at all business opportunities and stuff like that, but he has done all of the hard work, AJ has done great things in the sport and has done it all.

“He is an Olympic gold-medallist, a former two-time world champion and I think he’s one or two fights away from retiring or maybe one more fight and he’ll call it a day but that’s just my opinion.

“We all want to see the Tyson Fury fight, let’s hope they can make it happen.”

Fury announced his retirement in January 2025 after losing to Oleksandr Usyk. Yet the 36-year-old has a history of reversing such decisions, fuelling speculation he may return once again.

Amir Khan believes Fury’s comeback could hinge on a tune-up fight before a major bout with either Usyk or Joshua.

He said: “I hope Tyson comes back, he’s a friend of mine and Turki Alalshikh always gets a big fight for him as well.

“The loser of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois would be a good fight next for Tyson as a tune-up fight.

“I have Daniel Dubois losing to Oleksandr Usyk and that would be a great comeback fight for Tyson as it is a fight still at the top (level) and then fight Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua which is the fight I want to see.

Anthony joshua

“There are a few good options still there for Fury because he is such a big name and has that backing.

On the possibility of a Fury vs Joshua clash, Khan believes the odds are now evenly split:

“With Fury and AJ, they have both had time out of the ring and I believe both fighters have a 50/50 chance of winning the fight.

“At first, I was favouring Tyson Fury but not anymore, I think it is a 50/50 fight.

“It is a fight where you can’t say who is going to win because is it the power or the boxing IQ that wins the fight? It’s hard to say.”
