Updates: Gervonta Davis edging closer to a fight for the former’s onetime WBA lightweight title, according to reports.

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Schofield Jr. are edging closer to a fight for the former’s onetime WBA lightweight title, according to reports.

The champion, who last fought a March 2025 draw against Lamont Roach Jr., has been plagued by legal matters outside the ring

But, per Boxing Scene, ‘Tank’ could be close to securing a shot at his old belt against the unbeaten star, who was last out himself a year ago.

Then, Schofield defeated Tevin Farmer, just months after he was forced to withdraw from a WBC challenge against Shakur Stevenson.

Both parties, represented by Premier Boxing Champions and Golden Boy Promotions, are thought to by eyeing a September or October date.

Schofield’s father, Floyd Schofield Sr., had previously suggested no discussions were underway between camps due to matters with Davis.

The latter was stripped in January of his belt and designated champion-in-recess, with the star needing to settle on a bout sooner rather than later.

If ‘Tank’ is unable to agree terms with Schofield, the latter will be elevated to the full title by the WBA in his place, capping his rise to the summit.
