Not Just a Greeting: “A J” sends a not-so-subtle hint about a 2026 blockbuster bout in a pointed Christmas message aimed at Jake Paul.
British boxer Anthony Joshua has taken to social media to send a message on Christmas Day – hinting that bigger things are to come in the New Year. Joshua knocked out YouTuber Jake Paul in the sixth round of their controversial heavyweight fight in Miami last Friday.
Paul was knocked down twice in the fifth round before Joshua ended the fight in the sixth with a decisive right hand that left Paul with a broken jaw. Rumours had circulated before the fight that Joshua had agreed to take it easy, claims that both camps firmly denied.
“I needed to do better, It’s a win, but it’s not a success,” Joshua said afterwards. “I feel my coach expects more from me, and I expect more from myself.
“But what can we do? I can’t live off of that win.”
Saying he still has a lot of improving to do, Joshua added: “So, yeah, I’m not happy. I had boxing on my back today, and that is what it was really.

“You have to be prepared. One slip-up could cost you in that ring.”
Heading into the New Year, the 36‑year‑old has hinted that bigger things is on the horizon.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Christmas Day, he wrote: “A massive shoutout to the 33 million of you who tuned in to support me, Jake, and everyone on the undercard, and thank you to those who prayed for me during fight week.
“Enjoy the festive break if you’re celebrating, and have a blessed week if you’re not. Big things coming in the New Year, so stay tuned.
“We are all one under God’s eyes. God bless. Rastafari.”
Paul, on the other hand, also shared a message on the same social media platform. “God is great,” he wrote.
“Broken jaw but brain and spine all clear. Never been more motivated. Merry Christmas to all around the world.
