Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight contracted to be in UK

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s long-awaited heavyweight showdown is contracted to take place in the United Kingdom, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

The pair are due to meet later this year after agreeing to face each other in a deal backed by Saudi Arabian boxing powerbroker Turki Al-Sheikh.

The location and date of the heavyweight contest has yet to be confirmed with multiple venues linked to hosting the bout.

The latest suggested to be in the running was Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, according to a report by BoxingScene.

But Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, has confirmed to The Athletic that the contract for the fight stipulates the bout must take place in the UK.

The fight organisers — Ring Magazine, which is owned by Al-Sheikh — are targeting a November date and Wembley Stadium will be favourite to stage the bout given it has the largest capacity venue in the UK.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has hosted three major Ring Magazine events including Fury’s April win over Arslanbek Makhmudov but it would reduce the number of people able to attend a bout which will be hugely anticipated even though both men are no longer world champions.

Joshua, 36, is due to face Albanian Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Fury, 37, also wants a warm-up bout before the all-British showdown later this year but has yet to agree a deal. He has previously stated on his Instagram account that he will fight in Dublin on August 1.

Frank Warren’s Queensberry are hosting an event that night at the 3 Arena but no confirmation Fury will feature has been made yet.

If both men come through the warm-up bouts unscathed then they will meet later this year with the highly-anticipated fight to be broadcast on streaming service Netflix.

“I’ll beat him” Former Joshua opponent vows to ‘mess up the plans’ if he faces Tyson Fury next

Tyson Fury is gearing up for an August outing, ahead of his eventual showdown with Anthony Joshua, touted for November.

Now, one opponent who has been linked to a clash with ‘The Gypsy King’ has promised to ‘ruin Fury’s plans’, if given the opportunity

Fury ended a 16-month spell of inactivity by outpointing Arslanbek Makhmudov back in April, before making a beeline for Joshua in a post-fight interview and demanding a long-awaited fight with his perennial rival.

Since then, it appears as though terms have been agreed, but the event still hinges on both men being successful in their respective ‘tune-up’ bouts, with ‘AJ’ scheduled to fight Albania’s Kristian Prenga on Saturday, July 25.

For Fury, an opponent is yet to be announced ahead of a reported August bout, but former unified heavyweight champion and Joshua conquerer, Andy Ruiz Jr, has been mentioned as one potential dance partner.

Speaking to iFL TV, ‘The Destroyer’ vowed that he would ruin Fury’s plans and take his position in a fight with Joshua, if selected as his August opponent.

“I hope so [that I get the Tyson Fury fight], but if they are smart, they wouldn’t take it. What I have been telling everybody is, ‘if I get that fight with Tyson Fury, you best believe; tell Eddie [Hearn], tell Turki [Al-Alshikh], tell everybody that I am going to mess up the plans’, because I am gonna win that damn fight.

Anthony Joshua

“Best believe that I am going to be the one ending up fighting Anthony Joshua, we are going to have that trilogy.”

Ruiz then went on to reveal his hitlist, where he added Deontay Wilder’s name into the mix, keen for a big fight next, despite being winless since September 2022.

“I would love to fight Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua or [Deontay] Wilder. All of those big fights that we are supposed to make, I want to make ‘em now. Now, I am ready, I am hungry, I want a piece of that pie.”

News on Fury’s opponent is expected imminently, with another Albanian heavyweight believed to be in the running.

Verdict: “Old age has caught up with him” Frank Bruno doubles down on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

23 years on from Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno’s famous ‘Battle of Britain’, the sport of boxing finds itself on the verge of a similar yet larger event, with domestic heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua set to collide. Looking ahead to the proposed fight, Bruno has doubled down on his forecast for how the contest may play out.

Back in 1993, Frank Bruno came up short against Lewis, halted in round seven of what was a third unsuccessful challenge for the heavyweight crown. That Millennium Stadium event marked a first all-British scrap for the coveted throne, kickstarting an impressive run.

Since then, that number has extended to seven all-British heavyweight world title contests, Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley going to war in the most recent, with the latter having since activated his rematch clause to tee up an eighth.

There will be no world title on the line when Fury and Joshua collide, but that won’t stop the main event becoming one of the biggest in the sport’s recent history

Both men are scheduled for ‘warm-up’ bouts before their meeting – Fury’s yet to be made official – as Joshua looks to build additional experience under newly appointed trainer, Iegor Golub, when he faces Kristian Prenga in July.

Speaking last month, Bruno praised the move, believing Joshua’s mindset will be the difference-maker come fight night, saying, “if he’s in the right frame of mind, then I don’t see him having a problem.”

Tyson Fury

Now, in an interview with iFL TV, Bruno has doubled down on that opinion, believing that ‘old age has caught up with Fury’ and that Joshua will capitalise if he is in the correct headspace.

“It will be a good fight, I think that it is definitely going to go on, but I think that old age is catching up with Tyson Fury. Even his Dad says that, [about his] old age. I hope that he does very, very well.

“He has got the survival skills you know, Tyson, but Joshua is a very good puncher – if he believes in himself. If he goes in there believing in himself, it is going to be a hard fight for Tyson.

“We need it, it is good for boxing.”

Joshua returns on  July 25 against Prenga, while Fury may take on an Albanian heavyweight of his own the following month. If both men come through, their own Battle of Britain is pencilled in for mid-November.

It’s Going to Cause Controversy: Tyson Fury’s Final Opponent Before Facing Anthony Joshua Has Been ‘Leaked’

The opponent for Tyson Fury‘s final warm-up bout before facing Anthony Joshua has been leaked, and it’s likely to cause controversy.

‘The Gypsy King’ has signed a contract to fight ‘AJ’ before the end of 2026, with the pair finally set to deliver one of the most-anticipated fights in British boxing history.

However, prior to Fury vs Joshua, both men will have warm-up fights. Joshua already has a clash with Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga booked for the 25th of July in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury has confirmed that he will also compete this summer. The 37-year-old is set to return to the ring on the 1st of August in Dublin, Ireland.

Details of his planned opponent for that bout have now emerged, and it’s safe to say that few will be expecting Tyson to have any problems getting the victory.

Per Boxing News, the former unified world heavyweight champion will face undefeated opposition in the warm-up bout. However, at 41 years old, Nelson Hysa is well past his physical prime

Holder of the unheralded WBO Global Heavyweight Championship, Hysa is no stranger to Fury, with the pair having sparred together on multiple occasions.

Gervonta Davis

The fight has yet to be officially signed, but the veteran heavyweight is said to be the leading contender to be Fury’s final obstacle before the Joshua clash, with final details now being worked out.

In truth, though, Hysa is a downgrade in terms of opposition compared to Arslanbek Makhmudov, who Fury beat easily in his comeback fight in April.

Curiously, Hysa is ranked as the best heavyweight in Albania, sitting just above Joshua’s warm-up foe, Prenga. However, it remains to be seen whether he will have the same level of ambition as his compatriot when it comes to their summer fights.

Prenga has vowed to ‘cancel’ Fury vs Joshua by knocking ‘AJ’ out in their July clash, stating:

“Brother, it’s like going from one to 100. Everyone will see on July 25 who I really am. They chose me as a warm-up fight for him and Tyson Fury but that’s not going to happen. I am going to cancel that, that’s for sure.”

Anthony Joshua

Hysa may not be quite so keen to spring a shock. Not only has he trained alongside Fury, but he also recently became stablemates with Tyson, having signed with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.

Another clue the contest may have more of an exhibition feel comes in that it will serve as the co-main event on a card headlined by Pierce O’Leary vs Mark Chamberlain for the IBO Super Lightweight Championship.

If, as expected, both Fury and Joshua come through their respective fights, all eyes will be on the fight the world really wants to see as the two biggest names in British boxing finally settle their differences.

“If the Joshua Fight Never Happens” Tyson Fury Opens Up on the Opponent He Still Needs to Face

Tyson Fury announced his boxing comeback at the start of the year following his retirement after his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.

He has shared a series of videos documenting his training camp and hit out at trolls who mocked his physique.

A date has been confirmed for the 37-year-old’s return as a big-name opponent has been touted to welcome him back to the ring.

That fight would serve as a tune-up before entering a massive clash in the second half of 2026.

A blockbuster all-British showdown against Anthony Joshua, who beat Jake Paul last month, had been mooted until he was involved in a fatal car crash, which took the lives of two of his close friends and team members.

It remains to be seen whether Joshua resumes his legendary boxing career, with promoter Eddie Hearn issuing a fresh update after catching up with him in the wake of the accident that happened in late December.

Fury is aware fans across the country and beyond want to see him face Joshua, but he acknowledges the situation his rival finds himself in.

If the Joshua fight doesn’t materialise, then the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ is eyeing another domestic battle.

He has set his sights on Fabio Wardley, who is the current WBO world heavyweight champion.

Fury shared a post on social media confirming his desire to face the 31-year-old if Joshua calls time on his career.

Gervonta Davis

“Let’s see how I am looking in my return fight, then later in 2026 this [Wardley] would be a good option for me to try become 3 x heavyweight champion,” he said.

“@fabiowardley has a hard fight himself coming up soon.”

Fury added: “I know the fight you guys all want but at this time I won’t say his name out of respect as he is in mourning.

“But if he is not going to continue in boxing, I’d like Big Fab as a big test.

“This would be also a massive spectacle!”

Wardley stopped Joseph Parker in his last appearance, claiming the interim WBO world heavyweight title in the process.

However, after Usyk relinquished his WBO belt, the Ipswich star was subsequently promoted to full champion.

He hopes to defend his WBO championship against Fury, saying he is ‘extremely keen’ to face the two-time world heavyweight champion.

On facing Fury, Wardley, who is unbeaten in his professional career, said: “I’m not going to run off with my belt and not offer it out to anyone. The biggest names out there are the guys I want to be in fights with.

Terence Crawford

“I think being open [to negotiations] might be a bit of an understatement. I’d be extremely keen to see if he’s genuine about it or not.

“He may be looking at it like it might be an easy touch for him to roll out of retirement, come into a fight, pick up a world title and go on to bigger things, but as fighters of late have found out, I’m quite the banana skin.”

He added: “I’d back myself against anyone in this division. That much has been proven about me.

“No matter the fighter, the occasion, the night, the event, or even how the fight in itself is going, I’m always in there with a chance. I’m not going to give up until I hear that final bell.”

“Name the Price”: He will End It by Knockout, Frank Warren Claims Fury Will Face Anthony Joshua

The boxing world has been set alight once again after explosive comments from veteran promoter Frank Warren, who insists that a long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua can still happen — but only under one condition. According to Warren, if the money is right, Fury won’t hesitate to step into the ring with Joshua, and when he does, the outcome will be emphatic.

“Name the price,” Warren reportedly said, making it clear that negotiations — not fear, timing, or legacy — are the only remaining obstacle. Even more provocatively, the promoter doubled down on his confidence, claiming Fury would not just beat Joshua, but knock him out.

Few fights in modern boxing have generated as much anticipation as Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. For nearly a decade, fans have debated who would reign supreme in an all-British heavyweight clash that could define an era. Missed opportunities, stalled negotiations, surprise losses, and shifting titles have repeatedly delayed the bout, turning it into boxing’s most frustrating “what if.”

Joshua, a former two-time unified heavyweight champion, rebuilt his career after crushing defeats to Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oleksandr Usyk. Fury, meanwhile, carved out his own legacy as the undefeated “Gypsy King,” dethroning Deontay Wilder and positioning himself as one of the most dominant heavyweights of his generation.

Despite both men occupying the top tier of the division for years, they have somehow never shared the ring — a fact that continues to haunt fans and fuel debate.

Frank Warren Turns Up the Heat

Frank Warren’s latest comments have reignited that fire. As Fury’s long-time promoter, Warren has never shied away from bold statements, but this one landed with particular force. By saying Fury will fight Joshua “if he gets his price,” Warren framed the situation as brutally simple: pay Fury what he believes he’s worth, and the fight happens.

But it was the knockout claim that truly grabbed attention.

Warren’s confidence suggests he believes Joshua is tailor-made for Fury’s style — a dangerous assertion given Joshua’s proven power and championship pedigree. To Warren, however, Fury’s movement, size, ring IQ, and psychological warfare would overwhelm Joshua and lead to a decisive finish.

Tyson Fury has never lacked belief. Known for his mind games and fearless predictions, Fury has repeatedly dismissed Joshua in interviews, often questioning his toughness and mentality. Warren’s comments appear to echo Fury’s own long-held view: that Joshua struggles under pressure and can be broken.

Joshua, on the other hand, is in a different phase of his career. After setbacks and criticism, he has embraced a quieter, more focused approach, intent on rebuilding confidence and sharpening his aggression. Supporters argue that a motivated, disciplined Joshua is more than capable of hurting Fury — and potentially ending the fight himself.

That contrast only adds to the intrigue. This isn’t just a clash of heavyweights; it’s a collision of personalities, philosophies, and legacies.

Terence Crawford

At this stage, money may be the deciding factor — but legacy looms just as large. For Fury, beating Joshua would silence doubters who claim he has avoided the fight. For Joshua, defeating Fury would be career-defining, potentially restoring him to the top of the heavyweight mountain.

Warren’s “name the price” challenge places pressure on promoters, broadcasters, and investors to finally make the bout unavoidable. With boxing fans growing increasingly impatient, the message is clear: the excuses are running out.

Now, it’s as close as it has ever been to finally happening.

Joshua is also set to face Jake Paul on Dec. 19 in an eight-round bout on Netflix in Miami.

Deontay Wilder, however, exercised a rematch clause after Fury stopped him in dominant fashion in the seventh round of their rematch, leading to a third bout between them. Joshua had to face Usyk.
Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) lost a unanimous decision to Usyk, while Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) climbed off the deck twice to stop Wilder in the 11th round in a Fight of the Year contender to defend his WBC heavyweight title. Usyk went on to defeat Joshua in a rematch before beating Fury, 37, twice in 2024, with the first victory making him the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Tyson Fury  vs. Anthony Joshua has been teased throughout their careers. Even if there are no titles on the line, it remains one of the biggest fights that can be made.
And if they don’t step into the ring to face each other next year, it’ll go down as one of boxing’s biggest what-ifs in recent memory.

The stakes couldn’t be higher: Just before the jaw-dropping Jake vs. Joshua showdown was announced, Tyson Fury dropped a bombshell—claiming he’d put a staggering £1 million on the line. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

And incredibly, he suggested he would back Paul to record one of the biggest upsets in boxing history and knock out Joshua.

Now the pair have officially announced their stunning heavyweight clash which will take place on December 19 in Miami.

Paul had called out Joshua earlier in the year, and a bout looked a realistic possibility despite their vast gulf in experience.

And when reacting to the reports at the time in August, Fury made a stunning prediction.

He said: “Jake Paul chins AJ, yes. 100 per cent. If they fight, I’m putting a million pounds on Jake Paul.”

Fury later added: “I think that AJ is a spent force, and I think Jake Paul is on the rise.

“I like his new heavyweight look, he is a bit chubby, a bit bulky, he is getting there.”

The prediction of course came as a huge surprise, but is likely one to spite his long-term rival.

Anthony Joshua

As in any fight, Paul has a small puncher’s chance, but he is a massive underdog against the former two-time world heavyweight champion.

The short answer appears to be no, he will likely need a miracle in the eyes of most boxing experts.

Paul has had just one fight at heavyweight, a bizarre exhibition with 59-year-old Mike Tyson who he beat in lacklustre fashion last November.

The YouTube sensation didn’t have an amateur career and has had 13 professional fights against limited opposition.

Joshua has duelled with the likes of undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk and has wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte to his name.

Backlash is rife, but the pair will take to the ring in a bout which has received professional sanctioning.

Could Tyson Fury face Anthony Joshua afterwards?

Tyson Fury could have a keen eye on the clash as it could well serve as a tune-up for Joshua if he is to face the ‘Gypsy King’ next year.

Three Challengers Emerge for Tyson Fury’s Much-Anticipated Return to the Ring

Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring in 2026, and he isn’t short of options for potential dance partners.

Tyson Fury hung up his gloves for a fourth time in January, after suffering a second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. However, ‘The Gyspy King’ has now reversed his decision and is gearing up for a comeback once the filming of his Netflix biopic and the latest season of ‘At Home with Fury’s’ is wrapped up.

Confirming the news to DAZN, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “I spoke to him last week; he said that he’s going to come back and fight next year.

“He’s going to do it. He’s had a very busy year this year.

“He’s obviously not had a fight this year, but as we’ve all seen, he’s had his documentary.

“He’s been filming with Netflix for his At Home with the Fury’s series.

“He’s also got another documentary that he’s finishing off, plus other things he wants.

“He’s told me categorically he wants to fight next year. So, we’ll sit down and see.”

Warren’s latest update is the biggest indication yet that Fury will step back between the ropes.

Anthony Joshua

And with that in mind, talkSPORT.com has taken a look at three potential opponents for his next outing.

The fight that everyone wants to see is undoubtedly a long-awaited domestic dust-up with Anthony Joshua.

Both men have opened the door to facing each other next year after several failed attempts to get the bout over the line.

“Joshua knows he’s getting it,” Fury told Undisputed.

“Even if we’re 50 years old, he’s got to fight me. There’s no escaping it, he cannot escape me.

“Even if we are 50, we’re still going to sell out Wembley.”

Although neither man holds a major world title, there is still considerable appetite surrounding the all-British showdown.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh places Joshua vs Fury at the top of his wishlist, and it’s rare the powerbroker doesn’t get it his way.

Alalshikh’s preference may be Joshua, but the bout Fury wants most is a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk.

After Usyk’s most recent win over Daniel Dubois in July, he took to Instagram, to say: “Oleksandr Usyk knows there’s only one man who can beat him.

“I’ve done it twice before and the world knows it…

“I’ve been f***** good and proper without any Vaseline on and I’ve taken it like a man. And here I am, not f****** around at some boxing match. I’m out on the f****** road running, but I’m running tonight.

“I come home, I’ve done my job, and I got myself back, and I am the man.

Tyson Fury furious battle against Francis Ngannou could push Oleksandr Usyk fight back

A bloodied and bruised Tyson Fury may need more time to recover for his fight against Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury: What seemed a total mismatch on paper between the unbeaten WBC champion and a mixed martial artist making his professional boxing debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, almost went awry for Fury.

Tyson Fury was expected to toy with the former UFC heavyweight champion but instead endured a torrid night, receiving a small cut on his forehead before being knocked down in the third round.

Fury rose almost straight away but was clearly unnerved by an awkward opponent whose style he could not quite get to grips with, relying on his jab and the odd combination to get by over the 10 rounds.

Ngannou produced the flashier blows, leading to an outcry on social media when Fury was awarded a split decision win, given the nod 96-93 and 95-94 on two scorecards as a third judge sided against him 95-94.

The fight was rumoured to be the preamble to the announcement of Fury taking on Usyk just before Christmas and the WBA, IBF and WBO champion was ringside as he engaged in a staredown with the Briton.

While Fury, who was also left with a swollen left eye, was animated, there was an overall flat feeling after he had his hand raised and his promoter Frank Warren issued a more sobering appraisal.

Tyson fury

“Tyson’s got a cut there so it’s no good setting a date whilst he’s got that cut on the top of his head – we’ve got to see how that heals,” Warren said in the ring afterwards.

“He’s going to rest up, that’s what’s going to happen next then he’ll make his decision (about) what he wants to do because he’s the boss. But this fight is on. It’s just a matter of now setting a date.”

There was no celebratory press conference following the fight after Fury (now 34-0-1, 24KOs) admitted he had been given one of the toughest tests of his career by the former UFC heavyweight champion.

However, he told Usyk in the ring: “I’m a fighter, he’s a fighter, I’m sure we’d go now. We’re prizefighters, let’s go now if you want. These guys (promoters) will sort it all out and it’ll be on.”

Usyk, a London 2012 gold medallist and former undisputed world cruiserweight champion who has won all 21 of his professional contests, said: “We’re back in this ring on 23 December, I’m ready to fight.”

Fury had likened Ngannou’s chances in the non-title bout to that of a table tennis champion facing Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final – and his words came back to bite him post-fight.

Ngannou, 37, who had not fought in any capacity since January 2022 and had reconstructive knee surgery in that time, said pointedly on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Table Tennis champion of the world.”

The Cameroonian-Frenchman also took aim at the scorecards, adding: “This boxing world wild but some judges should be responsible for their actions. This type of stuff is what f**** up people’s career.”

Anthony Joshua

Ngannou also shared the thoughts of American basketball great LeBron James, who wrote: “Exactly why i don’t watch boxing! C’mon man!”. Former England striker Gary Lineker added: “We’ve just seen a robbery.”

Andy Murray, former world number one tennis player, believes boxing has suffered a setback following Fury’s hugely unconvincing showing in this crossover event.

He wrote: “How many points would the world no1 squash player win vs the world number 1 tennis player in a tennis match and vice versa? Im thinking close to zero for both….bad look for boxing.”

Lennox Lewis, the last heavyweight to be undisputed champion before the four-belt era, was among the boxing royalty ringside and was similarly unimpressed by Fury.

He said: “The lion can’t let the shark come into the jungle and nearly beat him. Ngannou’s stock is up. Fury’s stock is down in a luckluster win for Fury.”
