Tyson Fury: “Closer Than Ever,” Eddie Hearn Reveals in Mysterious Update — Tyson Fury’s Ultimate Rival Might Be Anthony Joshua.

Eddie Hearn has revealed that he and Anthony Joshua are focussing on a deal for him to finally face Tyson Fury next summer after positive talks with Turki Alalshikh.
Hearn posted a picture alongside the chairman of the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority and head of Riyadh Season after lengthy discussions in Riyadh, which he says took in a number of sports as well as boxing.
But, when asked about the meeting by The Ring’s Louis Hart, the Matchroom chairman said that the long-awaited heavyweight battle of Britain between Joshua and Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was high on the agenda.
“He wants to make AJ against Fury, that’s no secret,” Hearn said of Alalshikh. “He wants to make the biggest fights in the sport and that is the biggest fight in boxing right now. We’ve got to agree our end and then it’s up to Turki whether he can get Fury in the ring.
“The best thing about these situations now is that it’s not me speaking to Frank Warren or Spencer Brown or Tyson Fury trying to do a deal. We just have to do our deal and if Turki can make the fight then it’s on. If he can’t, it’s not on.

“We are focussing on that side. We have a plan for AJ to get him back in the ring as soon as possible and then lead up to a huge fight against Tyson Fury in 2026. We will do our deal with Turki and he will try and do his deal with Tyson Fury. Fingers crossed we can make it happen.”
Anthony JoshuaJoshua recently dropped out of The Ring’s heavyweight rankings following a year of inactivity since his crushing fifth-round defeat to Daniel Dubois in September last year.
With Oleksandr Usyk as Ring Magazine champion, Fury remains No. 1 in the rankings despite announcing his retirement because his second fight with the Ukrainian icon took place in December.
Fury, 37, has reaffirmed his commitment to staying retired on many occasions, but Hearn has always remained steadfast in his belief that the Gypsy King could be tempted back with a lucrative offer to fight Joshua.
Regardless of what Fury chooses to do, two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) is planning his return to boxing. As reported by The Ring this week, Hearn has suggested he could still box before the end of the year, if not early in 2026.

“AJ is in a great place,” he said. “When I get that phone call to say, ‘Come see me, I’m ready,’ he’s ready. He’s in camp now to fight.”

When asked whether he expects the Londoner to retain Ben Davison as his coach after three fights alongside him, Hearn said: “I expect so. He has been training with various different people. He’s got a great relationship with Ben and he knows Ben is No. 1 a very good coach and No. 2 from a research point of view maybe second to none in the sport.
“Right now he’s getting himself ready physically to do the hard part of camp, the sparring and that solid 8-10 week period and that’s imminent really. We’d like him to return this year.”

Anthony Joshua Targeted for Revenge as ‘Unfinished Business’ with Daniel Dubois Heats Up — All Roads Lead to Joseph Parker

Anthony Joshua: If Joseph Parker beats Fabio Wardley, Oleksandr Usyk would have to box him next to retain the WBO title and his undisputed championship status; But Usyk could still choose to vacate that belt; Parker sees former titlists Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois as alternative options

Joseph Parker still believes a rematch with former conqueror Anthony Joshua can happen.

In 2018 Parker was beaten for the first time as a professional when he lost his WBO world championship to Joshua.

In the subsequent years he has fought his way back into world title contention and, after winning a WBO Interim title, he is currently the mandatory challenger for the heavyweight championship he used to hold.

But he still craves the chance to avenge that loss to Joshua and AJ has recently described Parker as “a competitor” for him.

New Zealand’s Parker believes Joshua is a fight that could be made, potentially even for a world title if undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk were to vacate any of the belts in his possession.

“I’ve been wanting a rematch with Joshua,” Parker told Sky Sports. “I want to avenge those losses.

Gervonta Davis

“I know AJ’s another big fight, I don’t really care who I fight, just make sure it’s someone who’s top five in the world.”

Parker has never been keen for the WBO title to become vacant and for his Interim belt to be upgraded to the full world championship.

“It’s a bargaining chip, being the champion of the world,” Parker acknowledged, but he added: “You want to win it so it would be nice to fight someone to win it. I know you can get elevated to it and it gives you a bit more bargaining power. But it would be nice to fight for it.”

The WBO have ruled that the winner of Parker’s fight with Fabio Wardley next month will be the mandatory challenger for their world title and that Usyk must take that defence next if he is to retain their championship.

“They’re saying the winner of this fight gets Usyk next. They can say whatever they want to say, but Usyk holds the decision who he wants to fight,” Parker reflected.

“That fight’s there but it’s whoever Usyk wants to fight. For now I’m just going to fight who’s in front of me and just enjoy it all.”

Joshua, Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois have all lost to Usyk, but Parker is adamant that he poses the greatest threats to the Ukrainian.

“If that opportunity came I feel like I can show something different,” Parker said. “Experience, skill, belief, power, speed, movement, I feel like I’m getting better and better as a fighter even though now I’m 12 years in the game.

“I know what I can do. I back myself and believe in what I can do. But that’ll be there once I do this fight.”

Terence Crawford

He is not banking on his shot at Usyk happening, though he didn’t suggest the heavyweight world champion was avoiding him.

“Usyk’s faced everyone, cruiserweight division, heavyweight division, you can’t say that he’s scared, maybe he’s just calculated in the options that he has,” Parker mused.

“He says one more fight but I’m sure that the way that he trains and the way that he looks after himself, he’s still got a lot to give and he’s shown that in the fights he’s had.

“He showed way more power, sitting down on his shots and got Dubois out of there. So even at 38 years old, the way that he looks after his body and the way that he trains, he’s got the perfect formula.”

“Fight or Quit” Ex-World Champion Warns Anthony Joshua To Get Back to Fighting — or Hang Up the Gloves for Good”

Former world champion, Johnny Nelson, has advised Anthony Joshua to return to the ring and fight Tyson Fury in 2026 or retire from the sport.

The former two-time heavyweight champion has been out of action since suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in 2024.

An elbow surgery earlier this year further delayed his comeback, but his return to the gym signals the start of preparations for a tune-up fight.

And while a host of opponents have been sounded out for the Watford star, Joshua has so far failed to book that planned comeback in the early goings of 2026.

In a chat with talkSPORT, Nelson, who held the WBO cruiserweight title between 1999 and 2006, wants Joshua to walk away from the sport for good.

“I think Anthony Joshua has nothing else to prove in this game, and he should rather walk away than hang about and let someone turn him over,” Nelson told talkSPORT.

Gervonta Davis

“It’s either him and Tyson Fury, which we’re all sick of, is it happening or isn’t happening, or just walk out of it. He’s a very comfortable, wealthy man.”

Meanwhile, undefeated Hall of Famer Andre Ward, 41, is contemplating a boxing comeback after eight years, eyeing a heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Ward was recently inspired to consider this ambitious move. Joshua Camp has however said their star is open to facing Ward if their schedules align.

Ward the old two-division champ with a perfect record of 32 wins and no losses talked about coming back to boxing to fight Anthony Joshua in the heavyweight division.

Anthony Joshua, the past two-time top heavyweight belt winner, keeps planning his next moves after a hard time with losses to Oleksandr Usyk and a quick stop by Daniel Dubois last fall in September.

After elbow fix-up surgery that kept him out for more than a year, he plans to jump back in early 2026 against a good top-20 fighter to build up speed one step at a time.

Terence crawford

His boss, Eddie Hearn, just listed some possible foes, stressing matches that help build skills without too much danger right now in his spot.

Even with some people saying he should quit after the late bumps, Joshua stays sharp and even said he might like to fight Ward if it fits just right with his schedule down the line.

This tough spirit shows clearly as he works out hard every day, hoping to grab back his place with the best and quiet the folks who doubt his spark after falling off the main lists.

‘I’d take that fight right now’ Anthony Joshua targeted by retired former pound-for-pound star

Anthony Joshua: Former pound-for-pound star Andre Ward has claimed he would be willing to come out of retirement to face Anthony Joshua.

Ward, 41, struck gold at the 2004 Olympics before going on to win world titles at super middleweight and light heavyweight during a glittering professional career that saw him amass a perfect 32-0 record.

He has not fought since 2017 but has still expressed an interest in jumping up all the way up to heavyweight. And Ward insists he would have no issue going straight into a fight with two-time heavyweight champion Joshua.

Terence Crawford recently revealed he was encouraged to chase a fight with Canelo Alvarez by Bill Haney, the father and manager of ex-world champion Devin Haney

Ward responded by saying he also had a conversation with Haney Sr on the prospect of fighting Joshua

Speaking on All the Smoke Fight, Ward said: “Bill [Haney] a good matchmaker. You gotta give him credit for how he move his son, seeing guys and knowing when to fight them and when not.

Gervonta Davis

“It’s funny, I had been talking about fighting Joshua before, but he is the one that put the seed back in my mind three or four weeks ago, that was in the Bay. We were talking about it and I was like, you know what, I would take that fight right now.”

Ward has previously teased a fight with Joshua and earned a response from his fellow Olympic gold medallist earlier this year.

Joshua did not appear to take Ward’s fight proposal seriously, claiming his rival was simply pushing for a payday.

It remains to be seen whether Joshua shows any more interest in taking on Ward after his latest call-out.

Joshua has not fought in over 12 months after being knocked out by Daniel Dubois last September.

He is expected to return in a tune-up bout in early 2026 before targeting a major fight against Tyson Fury next summer.

Eddie Hearn Snubs Terence Crawford, Reveals Who He Believes Is the True Pound-for-Pound King Today

Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, has been at the heart of the sport for over a quarter of a century, having been introduced to the business by his father, Barry

During this time, Hearn has represented some big-name boxers and has made Matchroom Boxing receive global recognition. He is sometimes scrutinised in the boxing world, though, for his straight talking and love for winding up opposing fighters, but there is no denying the success that he has had throughout his career.

Unfortunately for him, however, his big-profile fighters have been losing recently. Anthony Joshua was subject to successive defeats against the now undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, before going on to lose to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium just over 12 months ago.

Conor Benn was found to have been doping, which delayed his anticipated fight with Chris Eubank Jr. When the fight did eventually take place, it did not disappoint. However, Benn was on the wrong end of a unanimous decision in Tottenham. With a rematch in November, Hearn will be hopeful his fighter can get the win this time around, with their family rivalry dating back to 1990 when the pair’s fathers fought for the first time.

Following Terence Crawford’s exceptional victory against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which saw the American jump up three weight classes, many have labelled him as the best pound-for-pound fighter. Hearn, however, had a different view when speaking to iFL TV, opting for Oleksandr Usyk as his number one in the world.

Who has Crawford beat from the pound-for-pound list? The answer is Canelo, and maybe Errol Spence at the time, who was somewhere near the back end of the top 10 at the time, but when he fought Shawn Porter, when he fought Kell Brook, when he fought Amir Khan, when he fought Gamboa, it’s important that you get what I’m saying.

“I think he’s the most skilled fighter on the planet. It’s not his fault, he could have beaten those real elite guys in his prime, but he never got to fight them.

“And then I look at Usyk and I go Tyson Fury, who I believe was in his prime, right at the top of his game, AJ, two or three years ago, Dubois, who is a young man and in particular the second victory against Dubois when he was firing on all cylinders, but even when I go back to cruiserweight, he was beating those guys in their backyard. He pips it, but it’s very close.“

Gervonta Davis

It’s tough to disagree with Hearn’s comments. Since making the step up from cruiserweight, people didn’t believe Usyk was big enough or carried the punch power to be a real threat at heavyweight. He’s since become the unified champion and only the first to achieve the feat in two different weight classes.

For most, there is nothing more that the Ukrainian needs to prove, but the 38-year-old is still eager to return to the ring to defend his titles, with Joseph Parker being the latest mandatory challenger. It’s clear that his passion for competing remains after winning the hearts of the entire UK

“If Not Him, Then Who? Gervonta Davis Denies Being Boxing’s Leading Star”

Gervonta Davis has a hard time going anywhere without screaming fans begging for his autograph.
His violent knockouts have made him one of the most popular boxers in the sport. Considering his track record, some believe he is the face of boxing
That distinction, however, is a bit too much praise for his liking.
“I’m not the face of boxing,” Davis said during a recent press conference. “I’m just somebody that box[es].”
Ultimately, all of this “face of boxing” chatter isn’t on his radar. The 30-year-old WBA lightweight champ is training his tail off for his November 14 exhibition against fringe cruiserweight contender Jake Paul at Kaseya Center in Miami.

Their matchup will be streamed on Netflix and is expected to have a ton of eyeballs, despite the comical nature of it. After several conclaves, Davis agreed to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer at a catchweight of 195 pounds, 60 higher than his usual weight class.

What Davis does following his exhibition is a question he won’t answer. He’s coming off a controversial draw against Lamont Roach on March 1 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
There was reason to believe there would be a rematch. But while Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) initially agreed, he backed out at the last minute and opted to face Paul (12-1, 7 KOs).
In terms of being the face of boxing, in years past, the Baltimore, Maryland, native believed it was a position he earned. Nowadays, he couldn’t care less.

“Dubai Chaos: Anthony Joshua’s Night Out Ends with An Unwelcome Visit from Drug Testers”

Anthony Joshua’s dinner with promoter Eddie Hearn took an unexpected turn on Thursday night when officials from the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) arrived unannounced to conduct a test.

The heavyweight star and his promoter were dining at a luxury restaurant in Dubai, reportedly discussing Joshua’s next fight, when the officers gatecrashed their evening.

Hearn shared footage of the incident on social media, jokingly captioning it: “Most tested fighter of all time. Hasn’t boxed for a year. Out for dinner in Dubai and UKAD rock up.”

In the video, Hearn can be heard saying: “Just want to say, unbelievable scenes. UKAD turn up.” The camera then pans to Joshua, who smiles broadly, flexes his arm, and quips: “Ed, they must have seen my chin-ups.”

As the official anti-doping partner of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC), UKAD has the authority to test any licensed boxer at any time. The process may include urine, venous blood, or dried blood spot samples, and fighters are obligated to declare when they travel abroad.

Joshua, who has not fought since suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, remains in the testing pool as he prepares for his next bout.

“Fans Furious as Anthony Joshua Shut Out of Mega Fights – Promoter Stuns With New Pick!”

Anthony Joshua’s return to boxing seems to be fast approaching, and another update on his comeback has been issued.

Out of action for over a year at this stage, Watford megastar Anthony Joshua has yet to fight since his devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois.

And missing out on a return to the ring against Jake Paul, Joshua was jilted by the Ohio native, who will instead face WBA lightweight gold holder Gervonta Davis in November.

However, a shortlist of potential foes has been outlined for Joshua, including a fellow Olympic gold medal winner.

Anthony Joshua ruled from top-five opponents by promoter

Ruled from a host of high-profile pairings next, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Joshua would not be sharing the ring with the likes of Moses Itauma, or even fellow UK veteran Derek Chisora next.

As far as the Dagenham native is concerned, Joshua’s return fight — which already has a pencilled date — could come opposite French contender Tony Yoka who won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Gervonta Davis

Tony Yoka — he’s definitely on a list of, I don’t know, 10 [fighters Anthony Joshua could face]?” Hearn told Sky Sports. “I expect it to be a top-20 guy. It’s not going to be top-five.

Now he’s back in training, and my conversations over the last couple of weeks have been very positive with him locking in a fight date and returning. …He’s like, ‘let’s go, I’m back’, and that’s where we’re up to. So the next move is to lock in that fight in early 2026, and then we want Tyson Fury.”

Tyson Fury’s future cast into doubt by his promoter

Himself announcing another career retirement at the turn of the year, former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been on a collision course with fellow UK talent Joshua for years at this stage.

However, on the back of his pair of decision losses to common opponent Oleksandr Usyk, Morecambe star Fury called time on his run in the ring again.

Furthermore, amid links to a return to boxing at the turn of the year, Fury’s long-time promoter, Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren, provided a less-than-favorable update.

Silent but Deadly, Joshua’s Warning to Tyson Fury Ignites Tension Ahead of Return

Anthony Joshua: With the epic Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight in the rearview mirror, the attention is now turning to other divisions in the boxing world to see what will come next for high-profile stars. A lot of eyes will be on the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis event, but in terms of real boxing fights with high stakes, the heavyweight division may be next up

On October 25, two of the top contenders in the division will go toe-to-toe. Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley will square off for the WBO heavyweight interim title. This comes after Oleksandr Usyk passed on facing Parker, who was the WBO mandatory challenger. Usyk, meanwhile, has been waiting for the right opportunity to materialize. A trilogy fight against Tyson Fury seems possible, but not set in stone. Usyk also has competition to fight The Gypsy King, as it seems that Anthony Joshua wants a piece of him.

Anthony Joshua is looking in prime shape as 2026 nears

Fury is technically in “retirement“, but everyone knows he’s just waiting for the right financial opportunity to jump back into the ring. That could very well be Joshua, who has a lot to prove after a brutal stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024. The question is whether Joshua wants to keep waiting for Fury, or if he decides to take a tune-up fight.

Anthony Joshua

While he waits, Joshua is certainly keeping in shape. Fitness has never been a question for Joshua, but he made sure to send a warning shot with a recent video where he showed off his physique and quick hands.

The odds right now are that Joshua will face a middling to average opponent in early 2026 before fighting Fury later in the year. But if Usyk and Fury agree to a bout before then, the plan could be thrown out the window.

Eddie Hearn Says Jake Paul Could Be Sacrificing Anthony Joshua Fight by Taking Gervonta Davis Exhibition

Jake Paul is risking a fight with Anthony Joshua when he meets Gervonta Davis in their exhibition bout, warns promoter Eddie Hearn.

Hearn, who represents Joshua, revealed a possible bout between AJ and social media superstar Paul is still being discussed.

It is a dizzying combination of high-profile names from widely varying weight classes.

Davis is a formidable world champion, but he fights at lightweight, Joshua is a former two-time undisputed world titlist all the way up at heavyweight and Paul, essentially a novice professional boxer, has competed at 200lb (cruiserweight) barring one outing at heavyweight.

But that came against a 58-year-old and long-retired Mike Tyson.

“It’s such a huge size difference [between Paul and Davis]. Who knows?” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“They’ve come on to me and said we want to make that fight [with AJ]. I said I can’t make that fight until you’ve fought Gervonta Davis in this exhibition.

“If you get chinned by Gervonta Davis, don’t think you’re fighting Anthony Joshua, it’s ridiculous. So we’d rather they didn’t take that fight if we’re going to make the [AJ] fight.”

He added: “We’re certainly not holding out for a Jake Paul fight. We’re making our own plans and that will be January, February 2026.”

Gervonta Davis

Joshua took to social media last week to launch a verbal tirade at heavyweight rival Tyson Fury. Joshua and Fury have circled one another throughout their professional careers but are yet to box.

Joshua is still hoping Fury will come out of retirement so they can stage an all-British heavyweight blockbuster. But first Joshua must rebuild from last year’s knockout loss to Daniel Dubois.

“Now he’s back in training and my conversations over the last couple of weeks have been very positive with him about locking in a date and returning. Then I saw that post [directed at Fury]. When AJ posts something like that, you know that he’s on,” Hearn said.

“He’s like ‘let’s go, I’m back’ and that’s where we’re up to. So the next move is to lock in that fight in early 2026 and then we want Tyson Fury.

“We expect Fury to have another fight as well, if he’s going to fight AJ. There haven’t really been any conversations. The kind of vibe I’m getting from the team is ‘we’re confident it will happen’. But until we start talking, who knows?

“We’re not just putting all our eggs in one basket to say it’s Tyson Fury because before that we’re going to have another fight and we’ve got to win that one first.”
