Three Challengers Emerge for Tyson Fury’s Much-Anticipated Return to the Ring

Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring in 2026, and he isn’t short of options for potential dance partners.

Tyson Fury hung up his gloves for a fourth time in January, after suffering a second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. However, ‘The Gyspy King’ has now reversed his decision and is gearing up for a comeback once the filming of his Netflix biopic and the latest season of ‘At Home with Fury’s’ is wrapped up.

Confirming the news to DAZN, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “I spoke to him last week; he said that he’s going to come back and fight next year.

“He’s going to do it. He’s had a very busy year this year.

“He’s obviously not had a fight this year, but as we’ve all seen, he’s had his documentary.

“He’s been filming with Netflix for his At Home with the Fury’s series.

“He’s also got another documentary that he’s finishing off, plus other things he wants.

“He’s told me categorically he wants to fight next year. So, we’ll sit down and see.”

Warren’s latest update is the biggest indication yet that Fury will step back between the ropes.

Anthony Joshua

And with that in mind, talkSPORT.com has taken a look at three potential opponents for his next outing.

The fight that everyone wants to see is undoubtedly a long-awaited domestic dust-up with Anthony Joshua.

Both men have opened the door to facing each other next year after several failed attempts to get the bout over the line.

“Joshua knows he’s getting it,” Fury told Undisputed.

“Even if we’re 50 years old, he’s got to fight me. There’s no escaping it, he cannot escape me.

“Even if we are 50, we’re still going to sell out Wembley.”

Although neither man holds a major world title, there is still considerable appetite surrounding the all-British showdown.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh places Joshua vs Fury at the top of his wishlist, and it’s rare the powerbroker doesn’t get it his way.

Alalshikh’s preference may be Joshua, but the bout Fury wants most is a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk.

After Usyk’s most recent win over Daniel Dubois in July, he took to Instagram, to say: “Oleksandr Usyk knows there’s only one man who can beat him.

“I’ve done it twice before and the world knows it…

“I’ve been f***** good and proper without any Vaseline on and I’ve taken it like a man. And here I am, not f****** around at some boxing match. I’m out on the f****** road running, but I’m running tonight.

“I come home, I’ve done my job, and I got myself back, and I am the man.

Rising Star Charlie Woods, son of Tiger, fires 66 to clinch first career AJGA title

Charlie Woods, the 17-year-old son of golfing great Tiger Woods, earned his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) win on Wednesday with a three-shot victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Bowling Green, Florida.

Woods, playing in his fifth AJGA event, began the final round one shot behind overnight leader Luke Colton and mixed two bogeys with eight birdies for a six-under-par 66 on the Black Course at Streamsong Resort that brought him to 15 under on the week.

Willie Gordon (65), Phillip Dunham (68) and Colton (70) finished in a share of second place.

After a birdie-bogey start, Woods grabbed the solo lead late on the outward nine with four birdies over a sizzling five-hole stretch. He then built a three-shot cushion with birdies at the 11th and 12th holes, dropped a shot at the 13th but responded immediately with a birdie at the 298-yard, par-four 14th where he drove the green. He closed out his round with four consecutive pars.

Before this week, Woods’s best result on the AJGA circuit was a share of 25th place at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March.

Woods has competed with his father in the last five editions of the PNC Championship – a 36-hole event featuring two-player teams made up of a major champion and a family member – and last December they finished runners-up for a second time.

The elder Woods has been sidelined since undergoing surgery in March to repair a ruptured achilles tendon and is expected to miss the rest of the PGA Tour season.

“With No Respect” Terence Crawford’s Words Come Back to Bite as Errol Spence Strikes Back

Terence Crawford, who in September will face the toughest test of his career when he fights Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, questioned the legacy of Errol Spence Jr. and whether he can enter the Hall of Fame, words that may come back to haunt him

It all started during a conversation between ‘Bud’ and MMA legends Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, in which he spoke of his dream of becoming world champion.

And while Crawford says he does not dislike Errol Spence, he was upset because he believes that critics downplay his achievements, even after moving up in weight to face and beat Spence. “They try to tarnish my achievement just to boost him up,” he said.

When asked if ‘The Truth’ should be in the Hall of Fame, Crawford said not yet.

Anthony Joshua

“Right now, no,” he said, before delving into his answer: “He fought in one division; they already called him a weight bully. He beat Kell Brook, eh, after a loss and an eye injury, you know? He beat Shawn Porter…”, making it clear that he is not sure if Spence has done enough to earn a place in the Hall of Fame

The boxing specialist, Showbizz The Adult, lashed out at Crawford, saying that the Nebraska native belittles his own resume by criticizing the state of the pugilists who have faced both Spence and him.

The analyst commented that while Kell Brook was compromised when he faced Spence, as he had not recovered from a previous eye injury, Brook was possibly in worse shape, both mentally and physically, when he stepped into the ring against ‘Bud’, three years later. Brook was “depressed”, he said.

Gervonta Davis

He also gave the example of former world champion Amir Khan: “Amir Khan was completely destroyed”.

Showbizz The Adult clearly states that Crawford is “belittling his own resume” by devaluing rivals they have had in common. “Stop doing that. I think you’re great; please stop doing that, brother!”, recommends the boxing specialist.

The hidden truth about about rumors of a possible rematch between “Canelo” and Crawford

Despite rumors and pressure from fans, new statements reveal that there is no guarantee that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford will meet in the ring again

Terence Crawford’s historic victory over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 13 in Las Vegas is still the talk of the boxing world, and rumors of a possible rematch have caused uncertainty among fans. The American boxer moved up two divisions, shone in the ring and became the undisputed super middleweight champion, while the Mexican suffered his first defeat at 168 pounds and the third of his career.

However, despite all the impact that this fight continues to generate, journalist Dan Rafael revealed that there is no automatic clause for a rematch to take place and explained what the plans are for Canelo Alvarez:

What people tell me about Canelo is that there is no rematch clause. He has two more fights on contract with Turki. Now, if Turki said, ‘I want the rematch,’ I guess they could do it, but there’s nothing he can invoke and say, ‘I’m going to have an automatic rematch with Terence Crawford

Terence Crawford

After defeating the Mexican boxer, Crawford made history by becoming the first man in boxing history to be an undisputed champion in three different divisions. In the face of this great achievement, different potential opponents have begun to emerge, such as David Benavidez, Dimitry Bivol and Jaron “Boot” Ennis.

However, many analysts still believe that a rematch with Canelo would be more media-friendly and would also give the American a guaranteed multimillion-dollar purse. In addition, they consider that “it is still the biggest fight possible for Crawford”.

Although the rematch is not confirmed, it is somewhat complicated because the Mexican must recover from elbow surgery and is expected to return in mid-2026.

Gervonta Davis

For now, the possible rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is on hold, as the first reason is that there are no contractual clauses forcing a repeat fight and decisions will depend on the promoters and the physical condition of the Mexican fighter. Fans will have to wait to find out if a second fight will take place or if each of the boxers will take on different challenges.

Controversy: Lamont Roach Threatens Legal Showdown with Gervonta Davis Over Controversial Jake Paul Fight

Lamont Roach revealed whether he’s pursue legal action against Gervonta Davis in the wake of him fighting Jake Paul.

After Lamont Roach Jr. and Gervonta “Tank” Davis fought to a draw on March 1, everybody thought that a rematch was going to be the obvious next course of action.

Not only was the inconclusive fight result itself conducive to a rematch, but the controversy of what actually happened within the 12 rounds — specifically in round nine, when Davis took a knee out of nowhere that should have resulted in penalization (that would have caused him to lose) but went unpunished — made it feel like a rematch was inevitable.

However, negotiations took an exceedingly long time in the wake of that bout. And while a rematch date of August 16 had been rumored, the fact that neither fighter nor promotion confirmed this rematch date suggested not everything was as it seemed.

August 16 came and went with no Davis vs. Roach II fight taking place. And soon afterwards, Gervonta announced that he would be fighting against Jake Paul on November 14.

Terence Crawford

Roach was upset when this Davis vs. Paul fight was announced, as he made it clear that he felt like Gervonta was ducking the rematch to chase a money fight against Jake Paul.

He also alleged that both he and Davis had already signed to fight each other. But because Davis went in another direction after signing on the dotted line, this could be considered a breach of contract and would be grounds for taking Davis to court.

Roach was interviewed on an October 14 edition of Inside the Ring. And at one point, he was asked whether he was going to pursue legal action against Tank for failing to heed the rematch contract.

“I never said this publicly, but no, we aren’t going to go to arbitration. Because I’m very well taken care of. I’mma say that,” Roach said, per an X post from Mike Coppinger.

He then added, “I publicly want to say thank you to Al Haymon, PBC, and everyone who made things right on his behalf. Even though he messed up, on his behalf, they made things right on my end.”

Anthony Joshua

While Roach didn’t specify exactly what he meant by saying PBC “made things right on my end,” it’s safe to assume they paid him a sum of money not to take this to court.

And Roach was clearly willing to oblige, which means that Davis won’t be going go court because of his supposed breach of contract.

Anthony Joshua Issues Fierce Demand for the Fight ‘More Than Anything’ — Eddie Hearn Reveals Ruthless Masterplan to Finally Conquer Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua wants “biggest fight in the sport” with Tyson Fury; Fury has now indicated he wants to box again next year; Promoter Eddie Hearn outlines the plan that would lead Joshua to Fury – a fight in February first but there’s a chance he could box before the end of 2025

Plans are being set in place that could lead Anthony Joshua to “the biggest fight in the sport” with Tyson Fury.

Fury, who has sat out the entirety of 2025, has indicated that he does want to box again next year.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has welcomed Fury’s expected return

“It’s exactly what everybody wanted to hear,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “The thing that AJ wants more than anything, is to fight Tyson Fury.

“That is the biggest fight in the sport… I’m hopeful.

“The only thing that is close to that level [for Joshua] is to win the world heavyweight championship again, which is a big motivation for him.”

The showdown with Fury would be next summer, with Joshua boxing at least once, but possibly twice, before then.

There’s a “small chance” Joshua could box before the end of this year and he will fight early in 2026, potentially in February.

Anthony Joshua

“The plan’s very important,” Hearn said. “The most important thing is making sure he’s 110 per cent confident and ready to beat Tyson Fury. We need to be able to plan that for AJ to make sure that he’s in the best place possible for what will be the biggest moment of his career, I believe.

“If he fights this year, that will be a pure run out. It won’t be a top 15 guy,” the promoter continued. “He’s either going to have those two fights before Tyson Fury, if that can get made, or he’s going to have the one fight in February.

“We haven’t really decided yet but he’s keen to get active.”

Fury would, in all likelihood, have a tune-up bout himself too. That could be a risk. Previous contests with Otto Wallin, for instance, and Francis Ngannou were warm-ups for bigger fights that turned out to be trickier than anticipated.

But Hearn reflected: “If he can’t win the tune-up, then he shouldn’t be getting in the ring [with AJ].

“We want both guys firing on all cylinders to give the public the best version of them and if we can’t get the best version of them, then maybe we don’t do the fight.

“What we don’t want is two guys who have been out for a year and a half, getting in there and they’re both a little bit rusty.

“We need to allow these guys, who have been out of the ring for a long time, to be at their absolute pomp when they meet each other.”

MORE NEWS : “No More Excuses!” Terence Crawford Dared to Accept

Dave Allen could put himself into consideration as a potential opponent for Joshua ahead of the Fury fight, if the Doncaster man can beat Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday.

“All I’m saying is a victory would probably put him in that top 20, top 15 in the world, which he already is with the WBA and we’re going to be picking from a list like that. And he’s British. And he’s very popular. I don’t know who it would be [for the AJ warm-up],” Hearn said.

Terence Crawford

“I don’t think there’s one heavyweight in the world, outside of Oleksandr Usyk, that you couldn’t match Dave Allen with if he wins on Saturday.

“I even put Anthony Joshua into that mix, I put Tyson Fury into that mix because they’re two guys that are going to be having a ‘comeback’ fight. [Moses] Itauma, Derek Chisora, Andy Ruiz, Deontay Wilder, Agit Kabayel, Zhilei Zhang.”

“No More Excuses!” Terence Crawford Dared to Accept Legacy-Defining Clash With Undefeated Former Unified Champion

Eddie Hearn wants to see Terence Crawford face Jaron Ennis in 2026.

Terence Crawford has yet to commit to his next move in the sport and is pondering his future after becoming undisputed 168lbs champion with victory over Canelo Alvarez.

He has teased both retirement from the sport and potential fights at 160lbs, or whatever route will provide any life-changing financial incentive.

The likes of middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly and Carlos Adames have offered to step in with Crawford in recent weeks.

But now it is a familiar face who wants to take on Crawford, several years after the pair were originally ordered to face each other.

Eddie Hearn wants his charge Jaron Ennis, who has been tipped as a future pound-for-pound king in the sport, to step in with Crawford imminently.

He said: “For me, that is a fight for the ages, against (Terence) Crawford.

Anthony Joshua

“But, we have to prove ourselves — look, Terence is only going to fight ‘Boots’ if there’s loads of money on the line.

“Because he knows how good Ennis is, and he’s not gonna fight anymore, unless it’s for a lot of money.

“He has to earn his shot against Crawford, but that is the fight in nine to 12 months time — three fights down the line.”

Ennis’ would arguably be the biggest remaining test on the table for Crawford within the three weight classes he is open to competing in.

Coco Gauff Roars Into WTA Finals With Fierce Confidence After Stunning Wuhan Victory

Coco Gauff said her victory at the Wuhan Open on Sunday had boosted her confidence after a disappointing run of results, as the American prepares to defend her title at the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh next month.

Gauff defeated compatriot Jessica Pegula 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the WTA 1000 event to clinch her 11th career WTA singles title

It was the 21-year-old’s first title since winning the French Open in June, and came after a series of uninspired performances which included a fourth-round defeat by Naomi Osaka in the U.S. Open.

This definitely gives me a lot more confidence going into the WTA finals, after the way the mid-part of the season went for me, especially in New York,” Gauff told WTA media.

Coco gauff

It gives me a lot of confidence to try to defend that title. Obviously, winning it last year, I know how tough it is to do, so I’m just going to take it match by match and hopefully I can end up with the trophy.”

Gauff, who did not drop a set in Wuhan, has won all nine of her finals on hard courts.

I definitely think it’s the surface I’m most true to,” the two-time Grand Slam winner added. “Growing up I liked the sureness of bounces and the sureness of knowing when I’m going to stop and when I’m going to go.

A lot of people think (my best surface) is clay. I don’t know my favourite surface. I feel like it’s still going to be hard court, for me.”

On Sunday, Gauff became the first woman in a decade to win nine consecutive hardcourt finals, a feat last achieved by Serena Williams, who won 12 between 2013-15.

I didn’t know that was a stat, so I’ll try not to think about it if I’m in another hardcourt final to keep that record going,” she said.

UFC Legend Sends Strong Warning to Gervonta Davis Over Jake Paul Fight

A UFC legend issued a clear warning to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis if the knockout puncher fails to take YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul seriously ahead of their boxing exhibition on the 14th of November at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida

“My advice to Tank, I would say take Jake seriously,” former UFC champion Tyron Woodley said, according to Fruity King.

Woodley is well aware of the threat Paul can pose. Overlook him, and one could turn into a meme just like previous Paul opponents like Nate Robinson and Ben Askren. Woodley even fought Paul twice — a split decision loss in August 2021 before a more ruthless rematch in which he lost by knockout in the sixth round.

Should Tank treat Paul as a lesser opponent, then it could be his own undoing, Woodley said

Tyron Woodley’s Advice For Gervonta Davis

Tank will be the 14th fight of Paul’s burgeoning career in combat sports and represents a new kind of challenge as he’s a credible world champion, a legitimate knockout puncher, and, unlike other Paul opponents, is in the prime of his career in boxing. Regardless, it comes with a caveat as there will be a 60-pound weight difference between them.

Gervonta Davis

“For a fighter that’s on Tank’s level to go into a fight with somebody that on paper has not even had the amateur career he had, let alone the professional career, he needs to take him seriously and recognize Jake has the motivation to prove people wrong,” Woodley said this week.

He continued: “Even though Tank is a powerful puncher, you’re going up to fighting somebody at 195 pounds. It’s a whole different level of power, and you gotta be able to get close to him. His reach advantage is gonna have you by at least five or six inches and Jake’s smart enough to keep you away from him.”

Other match-ups on the card, which Netflix will air to a significant audience worldwide, includes Alycia Baumgardner vs Leila Beaudoin at super featherweight, Gary Russell against Andy Hiraoka at super lightweight, and Ellie Scotney vs Mayelli Flores at super bantamweight.
