As Charlie Woods emerges as a top college prospect, Tiger holds his breath with anticipation

Charlie Woods: This is part of team coverage on Tiger Woods’ pre-tournament press conference at the Hero World Challenge. Here’s more on Tiger and Charlie not playing in the PNC Championship, more on Tiger’s injury status, and more on Tiger not being asked to captain the Ryder Cup team.)

Tiger Woods has had a front-row seat to watching his son Charlie fall in love with the sport pops dominated for two decades. Now, Charlie is in the midst of painting his own golf journey.

Tiger’s son is one of the top recruits in the Class of 2027. However, Charlie has yet to commit to a school, an anomaly among the top players in his class. That doesn’t mean college coaches haven’t been champing at the bit to get Charlie interested in their school

“It’s been very different, the recruiting process. Now you have cell phones,” Tiger said. “We didn’t have cell phones. We would have written letters that would show up in the mailbox. ‘Oh, my God, I got a letter.’

“It’s just very different how fast coaches can communicate with the family members and the player that they’re trying to recruit. It’s just a different world. Not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just different.”

Florida State coach Trey Jones was seen walking with Tiger during the recent Florida high school state championships. On the final day, Woods shot 4 under to help Benjamin win the title. He finished at 2 under for the tournament, good for T-4.

Woods’ recruiting rose over the summer after impressive tournament finishes, including a win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational. He’s ranked 13th in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.

And until he commits, suitors are sure to line up trying to get him to sign next November. Until then, Charlie and Tiger are trying to enjoy the process.

Charlie Woods

“It’s fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see where the opportunities that he has that he has created for himself by playing better, places that he could play, wants to play and ultimately we’ll decide where he wants to go play,” Tiger said.

The stakes couldn’t be higher: Just before the jaw-dropping Jake vs. Joshua showdown was announced, Tyson Fury dropped a bombshell—claiming he’d put a staggering £1 million on the line. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

And incredibly, he suggested he would back Paul to record one of the biggest upsets in boxing history and knock out Joshua.

Now the pair have officially announced their stunning heavyweight clash which will take place on December 19 in Miami.

Paul had called out Joshua earlier in the year, and a bout looked a realistic possibility despite their vast gulf in experience.

And when reacting to the reports at the time in August, Fury made a stunning prediction.

He said: “Jake Paul chins AJ, yes. 100 per cent. If they fight, I’m putting a million pounds on Jake Paul.”

Fury later added: “I think that AJ is a spent force, and I think Jake Paul is on the rise.

“I like his new heavyweight look, he is a bit chubby, a bit bulky, he is getting there.”

The prediction of course came as a huge surprise, but is likely one to spite his long-term rival.

Anthony Joshua

As in any fight, Paul has a small puncher’s chance, but he is a massive underdog against the former two-time world heavyweight champion.

The short answer appears to be no, he will likely need a miracle in the eyes of most boxing experts.

Paul has had just one fight at heavyweight, a bizarre exhibition with 59-year-old Mike Tyson who he beat in lacklustre fashion last November.

The YouTube sensation didn’t have an amateur career and has had 13 professional fights against limited opposition.

Joshua has duelled with the likes of undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk and has wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte to his name.

Backlash is rife, but the pair will take to the ring in a bout which has received professional sanctioning.

Could Tyson Fury face Anthony Joshua afterwards?

Tyson Fury could have a keen eye on the clash as it could well serve as a tune-up for Joshua if he is to face the ‘Gypsy King’ next year.

Historical Victory, Charlie Woods’ team clinches the state championship, with none other than Tiger Woods in the audience to witness the historic victory.

Charlie Woods: The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Florida recently scored their second 1A state championship title. It’s their second win in three years, thanks to a team of impressive young players. Charlie Woods, Andrew Tsar, Brooks Colton, Clint Lewis, and Maurice Hoben joined together to secure the win after a disappointing loss last season.

Sixteen year old Woods’ is currently a junior at The Benjamin School. Despite starting the tournament with a two-over-par 74, he eventually pulled through, leading his team with a second-round four-under 68.

The tournament is one Woods’ is sure to remember. Not only were both of his parents spotted on the sidelines at Mission Resort & Club’s El Campeon course in Howey-In-The-Hills, but his Coach, Toby Harbeck, dreamt of Woods’ success the night before it happened.

Ahead of Charlie’s impressive round, Coach Harbeck told The Palm Beach Post that he spoke with Woods’ mother, Elin Nordegren, stating,

“I had a dream. I walked out of the hotel this morning at [6:40am] and Elin was standing by the bus. I looked at her and I said, ‘I had a dream last night about Charlie playing today. It’s either going to be 68 or 67,’ and she looked at me and said, ‘I hope so, Coach.’ And I said, ‘I’m telling you, it’s going to happen.’”

Tiger Woods

His dream came true, with Woods’ going on to shoot a 68, just as he had predicted.

When asked about Charlie’s performance, Coach Harbeck had positive things to say about the young golfer, stating “I think he was locked in from the start of today, and he’s got so much talent. Dad’s here. A couple of colleges are here to watch him. It’s great.”

Following the win, Coach Harbeck was rightfully excited, “This caps off the year. We won eight out of the 10 tournaments we played in,” he said.

The coach went on to praise his talented group of golfers, stating,

“These kids just refuse to quit. We were 18 shots off the lead after nine holes yesterday. They made up so much ground and then today, we went back and forth a little bit and then they just took off.”

Charlie Woods is currently fourth among his class in the AJGA rankings, and ninth overall. The Benjamin School previously won the state championship Woods’ freshman year.

Proud Parents

Miles Russell

Spotted watching from behind the ropes were Woods’ parents, Tiger and Elin Nordegren. While it’s not surprising that the two devoted parents were in attendance, many fans were pleasantly surprised to see them deep in conversation. Despite a very public end to their marriage in 2009 and 2010, the two have put on a united front when it comes to parenting their kids, and maintained a solid friendship despite their split. With Tiger speaking to Time in 2015, stating,

“She’s one of my best friends. We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time. We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids.”

Catching up and engaging in conversation during Charlie’s tournament shows that sentiment has lasted over the years.

In a surprising Twist, Terence Crawford allegedly gave the green light to a showdown with Jake Paul just before securing the deal with Joshua—leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Terence Crawford: Jake Paul will fight Anthony Joshua on December 19 in Miami on Netflix after approximately 30 fighters agreed to face him.

Jake Paul will face Anthony Joshua on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The fight will stream live on Netflix.

The matchup came together after Paul’s planned exhibition with Gervonta Davis fell apart. Davis faced legal issues that ended those negotiations.

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, revealed that around 30 fighters accepted offers to fight Paul. The shortlist included Ryan Garcia, Terence Crawford, and Anthony Joshua.

According to Bidarian, Crawford accepted the fight offer. He confirmed this claim when asked directly by TMZ Sports.

Terence Crawford agreed to the Jake Paul fight but they went with Anthony Joshua

“There were probably 30 fighters who accepted. AJ being one of them, Terence Crawford being another. AJ is the one that we came to an agreement on. Crawford was 100% in.”

However, boxing insider Rick Glaser disputes this version of events. Glaser stated on social media that Crawford “smartly turned it down” and called the claim “unequivocally not true.”

Terence Crawford

Paul ultimately chose Joshua for the December bout. The British fighter stands 6’6″ and weighs around 251 pounds compared to Paul’s 6’1″ frame at approximately 225 pounds.

Joshua brings 32 professional fights to the ring. Paul has competed in 13 bouts with a 12-1 record.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion has 25 knockouts in 28 career wins. He knocked out Francis Ngannou in his most recent fight last year.

Bidarian explained his reasoning for viewing Joshua as a better opponent than Davis. He described Davis as quick, fast, precise, and highly skilled with knockout power.

“AJ is big, strong, and has knockout power, but he’s definitely slower than Tank,” Bidarian said. “He’s definitely less skilled than Tank.”

The MVP co-founder believes the matchup gives Paul a chance to display better boxing skills. He views it as more favorable despite Joshua’s size and experience advantages.

Paul has been training for the fight. Bidarian mentioned that his team has a good relationship with Oleksandr Usyk and his coaching staff.

Usyk defeated Joshua twice in their previous matchups. Joshua recently trained with Usyk’s coaches about two weeks before the announcement.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn: Anthony Joshua Set to Pocket an INSANE £70M If He Fights Jake Paul — Fans Can’t Believe the Number!”

Anthony Joshua is on course to secure a staggering £70m from a highly anticipated clash with internet star-turned-boxer Jake Paul, as advanced negotiations continue for a blockbuster bout expected to be held in Miami next month.

Insiders familiar with the discussions say a colossal prize purse of roughly £140m is on the table, with both Joshua and Paul projected to receive equal shares should the fight be finalised.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, cautioned on Thursday that the agreement is still being ironed out. The contest would mark the 36-year-old’s return to the ring for the first time since his heavy defeat to Daniel Dubois over a year ago. Yet sources indicate an announcement could arrive early next week.

The event would be recognised as a full professional fight under Queensbury rules, not an exhibition match.

A major driving force behind the negotiations is Netflix’s eagerness to air the bout. The streaming platform, currently producing a documentary on Joshua, previously hosted Paul’s November 2024 fight with Mike Tyson, which attracted more than 60 million viewers.

Paul’s collapsed matchup with lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has accelerated fresh talks with Joshua’s camp after more than 12 months of speculation about a potential meeting.

“It is not done yet,” Hearn told Daily Mail Sport.

“There has been a lot of gun jumping on this. I think Jake Paul would be mad to take the fight, but we are in talks. We were discussing a very low-key fight for AJ, but an opportunity has come up to make 50 times more money.”

Terence Crawford

Addressing criticism surrounding the spectacle, Hearn added, “Would it be great for Joshua’s legacy? No. But I’ll tell you what is – two-time heavyweight world champion and an Olympic gold medal. This is an opportunity and fair play to Paul if he wants to get in that ring because AJ won’t be messing about.”

Paul holds a 12-1 record compiled largely against obscure fighters and ageing legends, with his only defeat coming at the hands of Tommy Fury.

Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, also weighed in, telling Daily Mail Sport, “People are going to criticise it, but I don’t see it that way. As long as these guys are both fit, which they are, then I don’t have a problem. It will get a huge audience – AJ doesn’t cause a lot of noise in the US, and Paul does. People like car crashes. It will do well.”

Beyond the financial windfall, Joshua is also targeting a chance to shake off ring rust after a lengthy layoff. He began light training earlier in the year, underwent minor elbow surgery in May, and ramped up his conditioning again in October.

A Twist No One Saw Coming “ Tiger Woods’ Latest New Announcement Leaves the Golf World on Edge”

Tiger Woods has taken a major step toward a return to competitive golf after undergoing his seventh back surgery in just over a year. In a strong signal of intent, the 49-year-old icon confirmed he’ll be putting into play the new Bridgestone VS Proto golf ball for the 2026 season

In a recent announcement, Woods stated he’s already seen a “ball speed increase” and described the latest Bridgestone collaboration as part of his comeback strategy.

The new collaboration with Bridgestone comes amid a challenging period for Woods, who has been sidelined since July 2024 and has focused mainly on short-term competitive appearances – particularly in the tech-driven TGL indoor golf league.

His physical condition and injury history have raised doubts about his PGA Tour status in the near term. The decision to push the new ball model publicly is being interpreted by insiders as a precursor to a full return.

Unlike previous recovery periods where Woods opted for discretion, this announcement carries clear markers: a performance-based equipment rollout, visible training footage shared by his team, and language hinting at tournament readiness.

He did not commit to a specific event date, but phrased his words so listeners believe the comeback window now opens in 2026.

Comeback path and strategy

Woods’ first competitive target is believed to be a return in the early-season warm-up events on the PGA Tour, possibly the Hero World Challenge or a limited-field event.

He has reaffirmed his role with Jupiter Links GC in the TGL, suggesting a transition phase that blends competition with strategic recovery.

The Bridgestone deal is viewed as symbolic of this shift – equipment, branding and performance all packaged into one announcement.

While no official tournament entry has been submitted, the ball-speed data and public statements carry weight. For Woods and his team, the goal appears to be clear: test the body, build momentum and return when he’s fully confident.

This latest move represents more than just partnership – it is a visible indicator that his next chapter in professional golf may soon begin.

ATP Finals: Carlos Alcaraz advances to the semi-finals after defeating Lorenzo Musetti, clinching the World No. 1 ranking.

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz coasts into ATP Finals semis after win vs Lorenzo Musetti; Win secures Alcaraz year-end No 1 world ranking; Alex de Minaur also into final four; Watch ATP and WTA Tour Finals live on Sky Sports Tennis, Sky Sports+, NOW TV and the Sky Sports app

Carlos Alcaraz secured the year-ending No 1 ranking in men’s tennis on Thursday by beating Lorenzo Musetti to sweep his group at the ATP Finals.

Alcaraz needed to win one more match to beat Jannik Sinner to the No 1 spot and the Spaniard duly did so as he eased to a 6-4 6-1 victory to progress to the season-ending semi-finals.

It is the second time in his career that Alcaraz has ended the year at the top of the rankings.

The Spaniard became the youngest player to finish a year at No 1 when he achieved the feat as a 19-year-old in 2022.

Musetti had been in the mix to progress to the semi-finals but Alcaraz didn’t give him that chance as he swept aside the Italian in less than 90 minutes, sealing the result on his third match point for his third win in the Jimmy Connors group.

“Obviously it’s always great to achieve your goals,” Alcaraz said following victory.

“To end the year as world No 1 wasn’t a goal at the beginning of the year because I saw it really far away with Jannik [Sinner] at the top.

“But from the middle of the season I started to play such great tennis, winning a lot of tournaments and trophies in a row, so since that it was one of the main goals and I’m really happy I was able to achieve that here in this tournament after three wins.

“Today I played with a lot of nerves. It was really difficult to handle it to be honest. The No 1 was there in my mind.

“I couldn’t play relaxed, as I wanted, but overall I think I handled it best I could. Hopefully in the semi-final I raise my level a little bit, but I’m excited to do it.”

Amazing! Crawford stunned by insane BKFC offer to throw down with the promotion’s biggest star — fans erupt: “He’d be crazy to accept this!”

Boxing megastar Terence Crawford has now been offered the chance to fight sans gloves in what would come as a surprise move to the BKFC.

Expected to make his return to the ring next year, Terence Crawford is on cloud nine since winning the undisputed super middleweight title against Canelo Alvarez earlier this year.

And linked with a massive chance to make boxing history in a pursuit of the undisputed middleweight title, Crawford has welcomed a clash with an unbeaten European puncher.

However, with his boxing future somewhat up in the air still, the Omaha native has been named on a hit list of stars by bare knuckle fighting’s biggest name.

Mike Perry reveals pursuit of Terence Crawford fight

Fighting exclusively in the ring during his illustrious combat sports career, Crawford has now been offered the chance to duke it out without gloves against former UFC welterweight star Mike Perry.

Taking the David Feldman and Conor McGregor-led promotion by storm ever since his debut three years ago.

And improving to 6-0 in the ring last month, Perry has been linked with massive fights in the time since.

However, according to the Flint puncher, a pairing with stars including boxing’s pound-for-pound king Crawford hugely interests him.

“I think of names when you ask me. Nate Diaz, (Jorge), Masvidal, there’s Darren Till,” Perry told MMA Fighting. “Darren Till don’t have experience in bare knuckle that we haven’t seen at the club, and no kicking. … (Terence) ‘Bud’ Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua — he’s a little big.

“…Darren Till’s a big fight,” Perry explained. “He’s doing well in boxing. To have a boxer and MMA fighter, and he finally comes over and does the bare knuckle.”

Terence Crawford receives new offer from boxing star

Eyeing a history-making return to the ring next year, Crawford has also been linked heavily with a pairing against Jaron Ennis — with the super welterweight champion training with Canelo for their September clash.

However, over the weekend, another boxing star emerged in the hotly contested race to fight Crawford, with a WBC interim super welterweight champion staking his claim for a bout with the Nebraska favorite.

Tiger Woods mentors Trump’s granddaughter as she prepares for her first LPGA appearance.

Kai Trump will not be short of high-profile supporters when she makes her LPGA debut on Thursday.

The 18-year-old, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, received a sponsor’s exemption to play at the Annika in Florida.

Trump, a keen golfer, owns 17 courses around the world – including three in the UK – and regularly competes against Kai.

“He’s pretty good. I can’t say much but we have some tight matches,” she said.

Kai said Trump, who is unable to attend the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, told her: “Just don’t get nervous.”

She said: “My grandpa pretty much told me to go out there and have fun.

“To me, he’s just a normal grandpa. He’s not coming this weekend. He’s running the world right now, so a little busy.”

Amateur Kai has played only three events this year and is ranked number 461 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.

But she can call upon advice from 15-time major winner Tiger Woods, who is in a relationship with her mother Vanessa.

“He is the best golfer in the entire world,” said Kai.

“And he’s an even better person. He told me to go out there, have fun, go with the flow.”

Kai Trump will compete against some of the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, including world number two Nelly Korda, who won her third title in the event last year, England’s Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

The LPGA said Kai’s “broad following and reach are helping introduce golf to new audiences, especially among younger fans”.

Kai has more than six million followers on social media and recently launched her own apparel and lifestyle brand.
